Early Life

[edit]

Christina Curstag was born on 21 February 1989 in Newcastle Upon Tyne North East England.
Christina showed an early interest in Guitars at a young age so her father helped her to play. According to Curstag in several interviews, she started playing Guitar at the age of twelve years.

Career

[edit]

'Musical Career (2012–Present)
At the age of twelve Curstag was learning to play the Guitar and quickly learned with her father by her side. When she turned 16, she began performing at her High School then later would play at her college in Blyth and Ashington, an hour outside of her hometown Newcastle Upon Tyne. Curstag played small shows and while her audiences enjoyed her, she was largely unknown. Curstag lacked a drummer and bass player and relied on a keyboard to fill in other instrumental sounds.
In 2011 when Curstag was 22, she met Marc Heal and Phil Barry in the audience of one of her shows. Heal and Barry were friends and in a band together called 'Cubanate' and after the show, having liked what they heard and saw, made an offer for her to participate on their new single '
We Are Crowd. The three went on tour and performed the single until 2012, but aside from touring with 'Cubanate' they were featured on a small-time British news program somewhere between late 2011 and early 2012.

First releases

[edit]

Curstag continued to tour with 'Cubanate' until the end of 2012, a few months later met with Chibi, lead singer from Electronic Rock Group 'The Birthday Massacre' and arranged a meeting between the band and Metropolis Records and Repo Records and Curstag was signed to the group. Curstag began working immediately, releasing their debut LP 'Hide and Seek' later that year, which reached #3 in Billboard Top Heatseekers and #7 in Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums within a month of its release.

First tour and growing success

[edit]

'The Birthday Massacre' launched their debut tour in Canada, to support the release of 'Hide and Seek'. They toured Canada until 2013 and Curstag was noted and well known for her energetic on-stage style and would frequently interact with the audience.
'The Birthday Massacre' were a household name in Canada at this point, and this compelled the band to return to the studio. After the success of 'High and Seek', 'The Birthday Massacre' began working on their second album, 'Superstition', released in November 2014. While working with 'The Birthday Massacre' Curstag also worked with 'Strict Regime', 'The Hellfire Club', 'Deathstars', and 'Vicious Alliance'. While on tour in 2012, Curstag's son Thomas James who was 10 was noted to be in the audience.

International breakthrough and P.S. Love (2014 - 2015)

[edit]

In December 2014, 'The Birthday Massacre' first set foot in North America to play five shows, starting in Canada and ending in New York. The U.S. tour was a success.
In Early January 2015, Curstag partnered with Primark to create a cheap make-up range everybody could afford called 'P.S. Love', then in early November 2015 'P.S. Love' came to Primark and will be in Primark all around the Country by 2016 and 2017.
