iNaturalist is a a mobile application and online community of amateur naturalists, citizen scientists and biologists built on the concept sharing and mapping observations of biodiversity across the globe while providing valuable open data to a variety of scientific research endeavors. iNaturalist.org began as a Master's final project of Nate Agrin, Jessica Kline, and Ken-ichi Ueda at at UC Berkely's School of Information in 2008. Nate and Ken-ichi worked on the site afterwards with the help of Sean McGregor, until Ken-ichi began collaborating with Scott Loarie, at which point they founded iNatuarlist, LLC and further developed the site through a number of collaborations. Ken-ichi and Scott are currently co-directors of the site and actively working to make iNaturalist a versatile tool for data collection and management for a a variety of users.[1].
