James Hyland (born 1973) is an award-winning[1] English actor, as well as a playwright, screenwriter, film editor, producer and director[2].

His work has been described by Time Out as "the bastard offspring of Reservoir Dogs and Carry On", as well as "dark, daring and utterly bananas"[3].

For the Royal Shakespeare Company, Hyland has been directed by Adrian Noble, Michael Boyd and Matthew Warchus[4]. His performance as King Simonides in Pericles, Prince of Tyre was recorded by the Royal Shakespeare Company Video Archive of Performance. Writing credits[edit]

Hyland's writing credits[7], include the stage plays Dead Meat and Play The Game, which Time Out described as "a fruity anarchic recipe of brash screenplay, cartoon satire and theatrical black comedy"[8], as well as Hard Times[9] and A Christmas Carol - As told by Jacob Marley (deceased)[10], based on the novels by Charles Dickens, and also the TV and radio series The London Shadow Show.

Brother Wolf Productions[edit]

Recent productions include the TV series The London Shadow Show[12], directed by Jonathan Rigby[13], and Hyland's new one-man-show for the stage A Christmas Carol - As told by Jacob Marley (deceased)[14].
