Your VandalProof Application[edit]

Dear MightyWarrior,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.1 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that unfortunately you do not quite meet the 250 mainspace edit requirement - but please try again soon. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. - Glen TC (Stollery) 14:16, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Rolls-Royce[edit]

Hi. Someone has restored it to the list and I don't disagree strongly enough to remove it again, if you know what I mean.

However I'm not happy with the whole way RR is handled on WP. I have a clear understanding of the various companies RR refers to, but I would suggest it is not explained very well. I think "Rolls-Royce" should be a very simple disambig with links to:

  • Rolls-Royce plc (for car/aero info 1904-1973 and aero info 1973-present)
    • Rolls-Royce plc subsidiary...
    • Rolls-Royce plc subsidiary...
    • Rolls-Royce plc subsidiary...
  • Rolls-Royce Motors (for history of the car-maker spun off in 1973)
  • Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited (BMW company)
  • Bentley (related VW company)

Any thoughts? Regards --Mark83 19:45, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks very much for the comments. I think I will have a stab at it. I may have to ask you for some support though, it could annoy some people. GraemeLeggett has suggested creating Rolls-Royce (disambiguation), with Rolls-Royce redirecting there. It would clear up potential confusion I think. Thanks again, --Mark83 11:08, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
The redirect created over 400+ links to the dab page. I just put a short overview article back at Rolls-Royce. I borrowed phrases from various RR articles, and I think I got all the facts right. (I'm not a RR expert, so please correct if needed). This gets rid of the links to the disambig page, and gives people high-level information on the various RR companies. All the links are there if they want to delve deeper. Simon12 03:40, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

re: How to welcome newcomer[edit]

  • Hi, didn't see the talk page request until after posting so coping it here.

I can't find the name of the template for the Welcome! message - I'd like to place it on a new user's talk page (as I've just listed his first article for speedy deletion - actually been deleted as I write!). Is this template something that could be mentioned on the Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers page? -- MightyWarrior 23:33, 11 June 2006 (UTC) -- Please reply on my talk page.

Hope this helps you :) TheJC (talkcontribs) 00:22, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Many thanks - have also replied on your talk page - not sure what the protocol for replies is! Keeping discussions and converstations together does seem sensible, though. - MightyWarrior 00:28, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Request for opinion on possible copyvio[edit]

Hello MightyWarrior. I found you from here on the eClerx article when I saw that the article is now blanked. I am new to Wikipedia and working on cleaning up a different article. If you have the time, would you please look at this entry on the talk page and give me your opinion on if I should remove part I mention? I feel that it should be removed; what I want is a second opinion. Based on the actions with the eClerx article, it seems that any copyvio is copyvio even if it's a small amount of text. Thanks for your time. --17:25, 15 June 2006 (UTC)EarthPerson

Thanks. I'll wait for additional comments for now. Eventually, I think it will either get paired down or reduced to an external link. (echoed on article talk page) --EarthPerson 20:14, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: Mamidala Ramulu article[edit]

Hello MightyWarrior. I appreciate your tidying up the article. However, I do not see why "Quotes" should not be included, thoughts? Thanks. GSuhasini. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gsuhasini (talkcontribs) 15:51, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Re: Lilo & Stitch[edit]

Re your message: Thanks. It looks like TV Shows Fan cleaned up the speculative cruft. From time to time, the page gets inundated by anonymous edits containing made up descriptions or other things. One of the regular editors usually goes in and cleans things up. -- Gogo Dodo 16:16, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Dates[edit]

Hi. I've tried to ensure consistent formatting in all the Yes Minister/Yes, Prime Minister episode articles, and the Wikified transmission date appears in the first line of each one. To link the one in the infobox would simply be a case of overlinking, and unlike the cast list, which is distant from the guest stars shown in the infobox, the first instance of the same date is only a few lines above. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) makes no case for Wikifying the same date each time it appears, and I would have thought the rule about duplicate links being distant from the previous occurrence also applies here. Chris 42 17:23, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I've had to put it back per the other episode articles and the MoS as outlined above, unless there is a convincing rationale for linking the same date twice. Chris 42 18:37, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

For the correction on Polky's book and by the way my son (who is wrecking stuff at my feet as I write) is 8 weeks younger than yours...perhaps they'll meet on a sports field one day especially if you are still around Cambridge--BozMo talk 14:13, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Yep, that's an offensive username[edit]

Per your question on the user you reported at WP:AIV, that is an offensive username under WP:USERNAME. "Names that refer to or imply sexual acts, genitalia, or sexual preference including slang, innuendo, and double entendre" TransUtopian 20:13, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you![edit]

For the {{unsigned}} addition to my talk page! Somehow with the big:

2006[edit]

Thanks for correcting my spelling of 'John Allan Cameron' & wiki-linking to his page. From a 'Cameron' mourner. GoodDay 21:22, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

My revision was to take out the GaiaOnline referance for Chax. There was no reason it needed to be there--the user Chax is no one short of an everyday person who thinks he rules a Gaia forum. Saragato 03:19, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Saragato
