The Presence Of Drugs In The Rap Industry.
[edit]In the Rap industry, drugs are very present. Artists have a certain bond with drugs, either in their personal lives or in their texts. Rappers such as:

[edit]- Snoop dogg, known for using and talking about drugs such as Cannabis in his musics or in his clips like in the song The Next Episode...
- Future, Juice WRLD, Playboy Carti are also using and talking about drugs such as Lean, a drink made of Codeine which is a medicine that contains Opium, another drug that comes from the Papaver Somniferum a species of Poppy. Lean is well known in rap and used by a lot of rappers and a lot of people.
This phenomenon is also very present worldwide, particulary in France with famous rappers.:

[edit]- Koba LaD talking about cannabis. In the song Ténébreux, when he says "Et regarde mon chichon, ouvre-le c'est vert comme des pistaches" which means "And look at my chick, open it, it's green like pistachios ".[1]
- Gazo in the song Drill FR 4 featuring Freeze Corleone which relates to Cocaine. In the verse "Les bonbonnes sont remplies de remplies de cocaïne" which means "Cylinders are full of cocaine".[2]
- Freeze Corleone in the French hit "Freeze Raël" promoting a lot of drugs. Lean, Cannabis... in the line "J'mixe le Lin dans les Faygo..." or in English "I mix Lean in Faygos..."[3] and "J'ai fumé des forêts" which means "I smoked whole forests"[3] which is an allusion to Cannabis.
Rappers deceased due to drugs.
[edit]Drugs bring a lot of problems; addiction, mental illness such as depression and paranoia... and can even be lethal. Many rappers had died due to substance abuse, weither by accidental overdose or an overdose cause by a homicide.
- Juice WRLD has passed away on the 8th of December 2019 at only 21 years old in Chicago, Illinois due to an accidental overdose of Codeine and Oxycodone aboard a plane to come back to Chicago, his home town.[4]
- Lil Peep has also passed away from an accidental overdose of Fentanyl and Xanax on the 15th of November 2017 in Tucson, Arizona.[5]
- Coolio has died on the 28th of September 2022 due to, again, an accidental overdose of Fentanyl in Los Angeles, California.[6]
- Mac Miller had died on the 7th of September 2018 in Los Angeles, California because of a homicide by overdose of alcohol, cocaine but the main reason of his death is due to, the pills that he bought. Those oxycodone pills were laced with Fentanyl without his consent. According to the U.S.Attorney'office Stephen Walter has been accused of distribution of fentanyl and was sentenced to 210 monts in federal prison, Ryan Reavis was sentences to almost 11 years in prison and the case against Cameron Pettit is still pending.[7]
