From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival is an annual 10 day and night festival celebrating ski and snowboard culture and music held in [[[Whistler],]] BC, Canada. The 2010 festival takes place between the 16-25th April. Sponsored by TELUS and in its 15th year and the largest festival of its kind in North America TELUSfest as is it often referred to covers a broad range of mainstream and underground related cultures. Incorporating a series of free outdoor music concerts in addition to lifestyle, fashion, photography, film making, skateboarding, art and dog shows it has become renowned as the largest end of season party in the Americas.

The Big Air, [Grenade Games] and [Orage Masters] represent some of the major sporting events of the festival, taking place on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains and offer a platform for the worlds leading skiers and snowboarders to compete and showcase their skills.

The series of outdoor, free music concerts contribute to much of the festivals program and over the last 15 years many big name bands have graced the stage at the bottom of Whistler mountain.

The festivals program incorporates many events outside of the on piste competitions and music program, two of the most popular of these are the 72 hour Filmmaker Showdown and Photographers Showdown. The former challenges budding directors and producers to make a film within 72 hours often following strange themes or incorporating particular props. The latter gives professional and amateur photographers a showcase for their work.
