Mersey Tri, the Triathlon Club of Merseyside, was formed in 1985 by a group of enthusiastic swimmers, cyclists and runners. With ongoing public interest in triathlon and the associated multi sports of Aquathlon and Duathlon, the club has grown to become one of the largest triathlon clubs in the UK by comparison with other clubs in the British Triathlon North West Region[1]. The Club membership consists of Juniors (up to the age of 17), and senior men and women of all ages and abilities.[2]. The catchment of Mersey Tri includes[3];

- borders of West Lancashire / Cheshire
Mersey Tri is affiliated to the British Triathlon Federation and sits under the home nation of Triathlon England, and is part of North West England region, and is a Community triathlon club catering for Adults and Children[4]. The Club provides weekly training sessions across all three disciplines and is open to non-members to try before joining.
- Open Water swimming sessions are held with Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre, and with Formby Sea Swimmers
The Club hosts a Junior Aquathlon held in February, Junior Triathlon held in July, open adult Aquathlon held in May, and swimrun (with RNLI Ainsdale), held in August.
The current Chairperson of Mersey Tri is Peter Heron [5] who has been Chairperson of the Club since nomination in November 2018.
