pork is a text-based messaging and chat client, written by Ryan McCabe and Amber Adams. First released on December 6, 2002, it is free and open source, licensed under the GNU Public License. pork supports the AIM (OSCAR) protocol, and, as of November 2003, the IRC protocol. pork runs under Unix-like operating systems, and has been included in the package management systems of the popular Linux distributions Debian and Gentoo. pork can also run under Microsoft Windows when used in conjunction with Cygwin.
pork's user interface is written using the ncurses library, and is modeled after the user interface of ircII. A major feature of pork's is that it has the ability to be automated; almost all of its functions can be scripted using Perl.
