Sharik Currimbhoy Ebrahim

Sharik Currimbhoy Ebrahim (born 24 August 1980 in New Delhi) ) is an Investment Banker, entrepreneur, founder and Chairman of Goldstein Roth & Co.[1] He is also the strategic partner for Cantor Fitzgerald LLP in India. While sector agnostic, his firm focuses on power, energy, infrastructure and real estate. Admiral William A Owens is a Senior Advisor to Sharik Currimbhoy Ebrahim.[2]

Currimbhoy is also the Chairman of Goldstein Roth Finance which provides domestic debt for companies across sectors.[3]

Education & Early Career[edit]

After doing his primary and secondary schooling from St. Columba's School, Delhi, Currimbhoy enrolled in Columbia University to pursue BA in Economics.[4] In the year 1999, while he was 19 and still pursuing his undergraduate, Currimbhoy founded New Ratings Inc[5] an equity research news company, which he later sold to Aktiencheck AG and returned to India in 2003.

Currimbhoy later joined Shahnaz Herbals as COO, the cosmetics company started by his grandmother Shahnaz Husain and grew the business by 10x in profits in 6 years.[6] While working as the COO, he founded an Investment Bank namely Element Capital in 2009 which focused on private equity and real estate.[7] Around this time Currimbhoy even went to Harvard Business School and pursued a degree in negotiations. In 2012, he removed himself from day to day running of the consumer goods business and directed his focus solely on Element Capital. Element advised on marquee transactions such as the funding of the eBay STPI in for $40million, where Element was a sole advisor. This was the largest pre-leased commercial transaction in India for the year it was consummated.[8][9][10][11] During his career, he has been in the Wall St. Journal, Forbes Magazine, and is regularly quoted in various publications.

Personal Life[edit]

Born to Nelofar Currimbhoy and Tabrik Currimbhoy, Sharik is a grandson of Asif Currimbhoy and a direct descendent of Sir Fazalbhoy Currimbhoy and Nawab Muhammad Ali Beg.

Sharik Currimbhoy is the great great grandson of Nawab Muhammad Ali Beg (Sir Afsar-ul-Mulk “Ruler of these Lands”) Son of Nawab Sir Mirza Vilayet Ali Beg, who’s grandfather ruled part of Central Asia, and decended to India in the 1700s to forge an alliance with the Nizam of Hyderabad, which at the time was the wealthiest state in the world.Sir Afsar was honoured by the Canadian Government by issuing a stamp with his likeness to honour his standing in the British Empire.

Sharik Currimbhoy is the great great grandson of Sir Fazalbhoy Currimbhoy, Bart. and is the direct male heir to the title. The Ebrahim Baronetcy of Pabaney Villa was created in the Baronetage of Great Britain and Ireland on the 20th of July 1910, antedated to July the 1st, 1910 for Sir Currimbhoy Ebrahim. King George V issued Letters Patent conferring the "dignity, state and degree" of a Baronet on Sir Currimbhoy Ebrahim of Bombay and to "the heirs male of his body lawfully begotten and to be begotten.” This continues with the descendants to current day.
