- Since November 2022, at least 26 transgender e Individual have been killed in Crime motivated by anti-transgender bias.
- A mass shooting at Club Q, a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, resulted in the death of five people, including two Transgender Individual, and the injury of 18 others on the eve of Transgender Day of Remembrance.[1]
- The Shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, was sentenced to Life in Prison without parole after pleading guilty to multiple counts of Murderr and attempted Murder.
- GLAAD CEO Sarah Kate Ellis called out the Spread of "anti-LGBTQ lies and disinformation" by Politicians and others, which she believes incites Violence against LGBTQ individuals.
- Online hate speech against LGBTQ individuals has surged, with social media platforms receiving low or failing scores for LGBTQ user safety.
- Anti-LGBTQ hate crime have risen sharply, according to an FBI report, and over 500 bills targeting LGBTQ people were introduced in state legislatures across the country, with at least 84 becoming law.
- Education bills passed in some GOP-led states restrict discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in public school classrooms.
- Ellis also mentioned the murders of Lauri Carleton in California and O’Shae Sibley in New York City, highlighting, the continued Violence against LGBTQ individuals.[2]
