EC Software is a multinational corporation which develops and supports utility software called Red Peppercorn.

Originally an Icelandic company, its headquarters are now located in Stockholm, Sweden and its development and engineering offices are situated in Chennai, India and Reykjavik, Iceland.

Its flagship product, Red Peppercorn, is a cloud-based application builder.

History[edit]

EC Software was founded in 2000 by NAME on DATE to provide e-commerce related services such as online stores, digital brochures, content management systems and business management software to the emerging local market in Iceland.

Current majority owners aquired EC Software in 2004 and by then it was active in European and Asian markets and had expanded its service to consultancy, sales and e-commerce IT services. It had development and engineering teams in Iceland, Sweden and India, consisting of over 70 engineers and computer science graduates, experienced in e-commerce software design, architecture and software engineering. In XYZT it had specialized in multi-lingual and -currency online stores and portals and developed the precursors to Red Peppercorn EC Shop, EC Web CMS, EC Replicator and EC Book.

Of these, EC Book and EC Shop were the most successful and in 2013 EC Software sold the EC product line to two of its employees who founded Avalonia and took over the EC line of products. Since then EC Software has focused its resources entirely on developing Red Peppercorn, set to officially launch in June, 2014.

Core Business[edit]

Clients use Red Peppercorn to build interactive multimedia applications and launch them to Appstore and Playstore. The interface is browser-based and the building process does not require input from software developers. The type of applications is dictated by customer needs and can range from catalogs, brochures & magazines. Once an application has been built the software automatically creates functional versions for iOS, Android and web browsers.

Customers[edit]

Between 2007 and 2014 EC Software has serviced a number of customers using the unreleased version of Red Peppercorn, including IKEA, Sandvik and Oriflame.

Revenue[edit]

EC Software runs a tiered subscription model for Red Peppercorn with three standard levels of service; Core, Standard and Professional. Each offers access to defined set of features, user licenses, live publications and services. The fourth level is a , open endednon-standard solution for high-resource clients that are interested in developing solutions that require a customized approach.

EC Software also offers a free trial of the Red Peppercorn Core solution but with limited publication capabilities.
