The Grammy Awards are awarded annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Beyoncé was one of six female artists, along with Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse and Alison Krauss, who held the record for the most number of Grammys won by a female artist in a single night; the record being five awards, which she accomplished in 2004. However, in 2010, Beyoncé surpassed all others by receiving a record breaking six awards out of ten nominations, becoming the first woman to ever achieve this feat. The record is now tied with Adele who accomplished the same feat in 2012. Beyoncé has won 17 awards from 53 nominations, both as a solo artist and member of Destiny's Child, but every awards is individually assigned to every member of the group.
