Hager Group is an international supplier and manufacturer of electrical installations in residential, commercial and industrial buildings based in Blieskastel, Germany. The spectrum of their services range from energy distribution through to cable management and wiring accessories, to building automation and security systems. [2]

History

In 1955, the company was founded by Hermann Hager, Dr. Oswald Hager and Peter Hager.[3] In 1968, they invented the first rotary fuse carrier and it is patented in Germany, and one year later in France. In 1974, the group launches its first modular system in the French market, and turnover at their Obernai office is 22 million French Frances. In 1985, Hager Group finish establishing two subsidiary companies, Hager Modula in Switzerland, and Hager Powertech in the United Kingdom.

Since the mid-1990s the group has established its own sales channels in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Australia and New Zealand. As well as subsidiary companies in Sweden (Hager Electro AB), Austria (Electro Gmbh), the Netherlands (Hager Electro B.V), Norway(Hager Systemer A/S), Portugal (Hager SEM SA), Italy (Hager Lume S.p.A), Czech Republic (Hager Electro), Greece (Hager Hellas), Ireland (Hager Limited), and Spain (Hager Industrial de Envolventes).

In 2004, Swiss Weber AG, a company that manufactures electrical power distribution equipment becomes a part of the Hager Group.[4] The Efen Group was also part of Weber AG since 2006 and therefore also becomes a member of the Hager Group. In the same year, the Hager Group acquires the French manufacturer Atral where they manufacture Hager safety technology.

In 2006, Hager Group acquired all shares in Eletromar and thus became active in Brazil. In addition, Amacher AG in Allschwil near Basel and CES, a European manufacturer of cable ducts made of metal, were added in 2006. A year later in 2007, Hager Group founded a company named CTS under which the brands Tolmega and CES are produced. In 2008, Hager Group open a production site in Pune, India, as well as laying the foundation for a new Eletromar production facility in Brazil.

From October 2010 to June 2014, the Hager Group became the sponsors of FC Saarbrücken, in order to aid in the promotion of young talent in the area.[5] In this 4 year period they also acquired Berker in 2010, a switch manufacturer based in Schalksmühle and Ottfingen, Germany and ELCOM International, an Indian-based electro-mechanical business.[6] In 2013, the family owned business entered the ranking of the 500 largest family-owned companies of the magazine Wirtschaftsblatt Platz 101.[7]

On the first day of 2015, Hager announced they had taken over the family-owned Italian market leader Bocchiotti.[8] As well as announcing the opening of a new Corporate Forum in Obernai, France.[9] In 2016, Hager Group signed a strategic partnership with BRIEF-Bluelinea to create a joint company for the deployment of Bluelinea in Germany. [10] They also added Franck Houdebert as a new member of their Board of Directors.[11]

The Hager Group operates in 25 production sites in eleven countries. These locations are France, Poland, Germany, China, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Brazil, India, Spain and Hungary.
