Dylan White Bennett (December 21, 1986 – November 17, 2020), known professionally as Olyank T3C 9ine (pronounced Tec Nine), was an American rapper and songwriter. He is best known for the single, "Got No hit", which was released 2010, it has over 200 million views on Youtube and "11's and 9's" which peaked at number 29 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Bennett's fifth album, "Permission 2 die", was released 2015, became his highest charting project debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. On November 13, 2020, Bennett was shot two times in Memphis, Tennessee; he then died at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis on November 17, 2020. (rapper and cousin Young Dolph died on the exact same day, a year later.)
Early life
[edit]Dylan White Bennett was on born December 21, 1986, in Chicago, Illinois, to Cain Cabel and Voletta Bennett, Cain and Voletta were both African American, and an older sister who died on his birth. When he was four years old, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. He and rapper Young Dolph, were cousins. His sister was shot and killed when his family were still living in Chicago, he once stated "I never knew my sister but... shit, being alone with no sibling is just shit."
Bennett said that where he grew up in South Memphis, many of his peers were raised by their grandmothers due to the issues experienced by their parents, but he was the only one who was raised by both of his parents, until in fifth grade, his father Cain, was mortally wounded in a drug deal. Bennett would pay respect in one song, "Die like a hero".
Bennett was expelled ninth grade for stabbing another student to the hospital, he then spend one year in house arrest. When he was fifteen he listened to rap music, and when he was 19, he started rapping and quickly noticed that he is very good at it.
Career
[edit]2006–2010 first success
[edit]In 2006, he began recording his first songs, "Da TEC-NINE", and, "Headshots", two years later in 2008, he signed Republic Records, later that year, he released his debut album, "Cash Money Oly", it was an album for Cash Money Records, it has peaked at number 39 on the Billboard 200. Two years later after the album release, he was signed to Cash Money Records and left Republic Records because of money disputes, on July 21, 2010, he released his now most successful single, "Got No Hit", it has on Youtube now over 200 million views, and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. People described him as different, being way different as other Memphis rappers, having his own flow.
2011–2015 top 5 album, more success and shootings
[edit]In 2011, Columbia Records offered Bennett a record deal, he signed the deal. A year later, he released, "11's and 9's", which peaked at number 29 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, That same year, he had been offered a record deal (price not known), which he turned down, he said "It was a very very great deal y'know, but the label wasn't great and still isn't."
Bennett revealed in 2013 that he signed a deal with Empire Distribution, but left just one month after signing, because he wasn't feeling right being in that label. In that one month, he released his third album, "Fuckin' Homicide", in which he collaborated with Chicago drill rapper Lil Durk, the album peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200.
In 2015, Bennett's fifth album, "Permission 2 die", became his highest charting project debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. One problem with this album was that he dissed many Chicago drill rappers, even though he collaborated with Lil Durk, he also had done punk rap, becoming with punk rapper Denzel Curry, the face of punk rap.
In 2013, Bennett was shot six times backstage after a concert in Los Angeles, California, a mass shootout broke out and Bennett was driven to the hospital in critical condition, doctors said that he had luck surviving six shots to the chest. In the mass shootout was no one killed.
In 2015, two months after, "Permission 2 die", Bennett was shot eight times in a drive-by shooting by two different cars after he exited his car in Orlando, Florida, infront of a recording studio, two people were also hit by the two cars. It was discovered that the gunmen were from Chicago.
2016–2020 last albums, leaving Columbia Records and COVID-19
[edit]Beginning 2016, Bennett had large disputes over the payment by Columbia and that Columbia is doing nothing for him, he then left the label. After he left, he said on a performance "Fuck Columbia y'know whats gonna happen!" A week later, someone open gunfire on Bennett, who screamed "Columbia, bitch ass", right after the incident, he made one of the most disrespectful diss tracks ever made, "Deal Wit it", dissing the whole label and the gunman, he also the dissed the whole Chicago rap scene.
In late 2016, he tweeted that isn't going to release so many songs because of his two kids, but not many supported him, especially one guy who punched Bennett in the face on the street. He released only seven songs in this year, but one could still chart in the top 10, "Don't try Memphis" with Young Dolph. In 2017, he released more songs, but they weren't really successful and he thought about ending his career, "it really wasn't a good year for him" Steve Carr (good friend of him) would say.
In mid-2018, Bennett started a new project, "Rich Boy", it was supported by many of his fans even though they didn't know anything, an album he himself produced and mixed called, "Rich Boy Campaign", revealed that he is creating his own label, "Rich Boy Records", but because of his death in 2020, the label was closed in memory for Bennett. Until his death, he only released five songs, most notable, "The 8Pool" and " The Evil within", and his last album, "ASSassination".
Legal issues
[edit]In November 2015, Bennett filmed walking by a shootout pulling out a handgun and shooting, he declined any of this but still was arrested for illegal gun possession.
On February 2, 2017, Bennett was charged with carjacking, the owner of the stolen car stated that he used the car for a music shoot.
In 2018, Bennett was charged with illegal gun possession.
Personal life
[edit]Bennett and his wife, Felicia Antinya, had two children. He was not a really strict parent, due to him wanting to give his kids a good childhood. He also only did one collaboration with cousin and fellow rapper, Young Dolph, Bennett also stated that didn't have a big relationship with Thornton.
On February 27, 2019, Bennett was confronted by a guy after a performance in Oakland, California, right before the argument ended, someone out of a big crowd stepped out and punched Bennett really hard in the face, another one shot him in both of his knees, when Bennett tried to stand up he was stabbed one time in the back. He was driven to the hospital in critical condition, but just after a few hours doctors reported that he is going to survive.
