The Monster's Mind (Novella)[edit]

The Monster's Mind is a short novella written by A.J. Conley (Autumn J Conley).[1] The story revolves around a young, demented killer, Joshua Dawson, and the doctor who desperately tries to help him. The novella tunes in on the mind of the human being and its darkest places as the doctor tries to mend and fix the young boy's mental health. Helping him soon becomes an obsession for the doctor even though all attempts to connect to the boy's mind are useless. The Monster's Mind is Conley's first publication.

Adaptations[edit]

Conley's story was adapted for the screen in 2006 in a film of the same title.[2] It was the directorial debut for Brett Hatten[3] who wrote and directed this short story in to a full length movie lasting approximately 74 minutes. It was filmed in Wilmington, Ohio with an approximate budget of $41,000 and took less than one month to shoot. The full length film was later cut in to a 19 minute short for a film festival in the fall of 2007.
