Dr. Vishal is an Indian musician (Sitar Player), Academic and an Independent researcher.

Early Life[edit]

He was born in Ambala in Haryana state of India. He grew up with interest in music and formally started learning music at the age of 14. After learning Harmonium for few months, he switched to guitar and finally took Sitar as his main instrument during beginning of his graduation in S.A.Jain college, Ambala.

Education[edit]

After finishing his graduation with music, he enrolled himself for Masters in Music with Music department, Panjab University, Chandigarh. After that he moved to Delhi for further studies and did M.Phil and Doctorate in Music from faculty of music & fine arts, University of Delhi, India.

Musical Training[edit]

Vishal began his musical journey from school days however, sitar came little late during graduation. He started learning Sitar from music lecturers in college and further at Panjab university, Chandigarh and University of Delhi.

Careers[edit]

Vishal started his career as Lecturer at music department, Panjab University, Chandigarh in 2006. And after completing his Ph.D. in the year 2012, he joined NCERT (National Council of Educational Research & Training), New Delhi as Senior Research Associate for a Evaluation research study- sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. In the year 2013, he came to Mumbai and joined a television channel of Indian Classical Music as Assistant Vice President-Research & Planning. In 2014, he traveled to New Zealand for a research study sponsored by UNESCO.

  • Performed at Juxtapose-2014 for Weaving New Stories-project at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi[1]
  • Played Sitar for “Swaranjali” a project of Delhi Doordarshan’s (national television channel).
  • Performed at “Jahan-e-Khusro” 11th world Sufi Music Festival, New Delhi.
  • Performed at “Parampara-2012” National Festival of Dance & Music, New Delhi.
  • Performed with “World Fusion Music Band” Directed by Prateek Chaudhary (Son & disciple of Pt. Debu Chaudhary).
  • Performed at Music Education Conference held at Music and Audio Institute of New Zealand, Auckland, New Zealand.
  • Given lecture-demonstration of Sitar at several schools in Greymouth, Christchurch and Auckland, New Zealand [2]
