Ursúa
Ursúa is a 2005 novel written by the Colombian author William Ospina. It is the first novel of a trilogy about the invasion of the Spanish to the Americas. This book is mainly about the wars that the conquistador Pedro de Ursúa fought across the Colombian territory in the mid fifteen-hundreds.
The novel begins in Navarra where the young Ursúa dreams to become a war hero in the Americas. He travels to the new continent at age 17 and is soon named governor by his uncle Miguel Díaz de Armendáriz.
In 1548, he asks his uncle for license to start an exploration to find the treasure of Tisquesusa, but his uncle orders him to defeat the Panches of Timaná first. When Ursúa returns victorious, his uncle tells him pacify the Chitarreros of Chicamocha. When he comes back, his uncle requires to fight the Muzos of Magdalena. Invictus, Ursúa returns just be send back out to quiet the rebellions of the Tayronas. Ursúa is promised his expedition after this war, but then his uncle is uncle is destitute from his position and Ursúa has to flee to Panamá.
