Populated places that sit on county lines

As you are creating/editing community articles, if you notice any of them are obviously split across a county line, please make sure you add a "‡" symbol after its name in the county templates, and also ensure the template has a footnote explaining the symbol. See Template:Dickinson County, Kansas for examples. Most likely you won't come across very many. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 18:18, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

I am aware of the ‡ symbol so I'll try to make use of it when necessary. Mostly I'm relying on old reference books for history which aren't as precise regarding geographic data as Web sites such as GNIS.- Gilliam (talk) 18:31, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

County Templates

I finished a cleanup edit of every county template in Kansas. I moved the townships below all the communities. I also forced all the templates to always expand, and added an option so a user can override and collapse in specific articles, such as situation where some communities sit on a county line or multiple county lines. For example, Bonner Spring is located in 3 counties, so I collapsed all of them in Bonner_Springs,_Kansas#External_links. Since City of Sedgwick sits mostly in Harvey County, I left Harvey expanded and collapsed Sedgwick, see Sedgwick,_Kansas#External_links. The county templates look well-organized, even if I think they should all contain links to the townships. I also noticed all KS county articles have lists of townships, but most of the lists aren't wikilinked, even if those townships have their own articles. I'll probably try to link them later, since I tend to do tasks in a certain order as not to get distracted.- Gilliam (talk) 18:46, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

When I added the 2010 census to every city and county article, I did a quick cleanup and reformat of each one. I've spent the most time on Marion County related articles, then all the bordering counties to it, then south central counties, and then various other parts of the state, but still as much time as I've spent on these things...they all need a lot more work. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 06:18, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Sometimes I'll let them sit a while then come back later and re-evaluate content for a better way to present it. • City = Peabody, Kansas (big article for a small town, because I grew up here, so I've spent a lot of time editing and learning to edit with it)
• Unincorporated Community = Aulne, Kansas (needs more content, but hard to find)
• Ghost Town = Gnadenau, Kansas (needs more content, but hard to find)
• Township = Catlin Township, Marion County, Kansas (needs more content. I have some ideas for new features)
• County = Marion County, Kansas (I need to expand and refine this more like the Peabody article)
• County Template = Template:Marion County, Kansas

I'll see what I can do. I'm from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area (Newport) but obviously like working on the small towns everywhere. Pardon the inconvenience but need your help. As you ever noticed, the article Miss Earth 2014 come what driving since I created using reference as safe as possible to preserve their integrity. But since a few days ago is a situation that is leaving me patience, a relatively novice user does not respect the policies, constantly adds unsafe references which repudiation and delete but the user insists on implementing its point of view of a rather immature way . I'll explain: It's a future article because the event will be held in November this year. There is a section called "Upcoming National Pageants" in which those countries national pageants Miss Earth bound for points; day and month, or month is placed. However, the information must be supported by a reliable reference, ie a local newspaper or official website of the event, etc.. In this case, the user insists on placing the reference of "Taiwan", the error is as follows:

1) Taiwan does not exist in Miss Earth, takes the side of China Taipei, the user insists on putting "TAIWAN" nonexistent thing in the contest.

2) The reference in nowhere says that the winner will be sent to Miss Earth 2014. Thus takes away credibility. The User warrants that the reference is reliable as a page (Which neither showed) accredits.

3) It's not the first time this type of problem happens, the user a few days ago, insisted on placing the return of Fiji with a reference to a blog, which for obvious reasons is not acceptable; further that such reference was practically a photo of the "alleged" candidate, with an edited name saying "Miss Earth Fiji".
