Welcome to my user talk page!

Please do all of the following:
  • Always link to the text, image, or edit you want to discuss. When linking to an image, use a colon. For example, "[[:Image:Example.jpg]]" produces "Image:Example.jpg".
  • Don't forget to provide a proper Edit Summary for each and every edit, and a proper signature for each and every post to a talk page or notice board. I may revert edits that do not have such features, rather than respond to them.
  • Reply to interactive messages at the location of the original topic to not scatter talk all around, fracturing the discussion. I do have nearly all pages I have posted to recently on my Watchlist. If I missed a comment, please use {{Talkback}} to drop me a short reminder with a link here.
  • Respect my babel boxes. Write in English. I'm also able to communicate in Spanish a bit, but with that language I can't give a guarantee that I will really comprehend the meaning of your message.
  • If you're copying files from any project to Commons, be sure to use the CommonsHelper.
  • If you're copying pics from Flickr, be sure to use Flinfo, the easy way to upload pics from Flickr.
  • If your text or image is lacking source, license, or permission, fix that instead of asking here what is wrong. There should be a message on your talk page explaining things in detail. Apologies for having to be so clear if this message is not related to the matter you would like to address.
  • Post here if you want to reach me, or reply to a post below via the edit link above that post.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Help me

Sometimes I don't know what articles to edit and how do I have a lot edits and vandalism reverts like you have so I can become an administrator and have access to to the rollback feature that most users have even though I don't what articles to edit, sometimes.? Wayne Olajuwon chat 18:59, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried Category:Wikipedia backlog, Special:RecentChanges, or Special:Random?   — Jeff G.  ツ 04:10, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I only tried Special:RecentChanges. I clicked Special:Random a long time ago. Wayne Olajuwon chat 14:22, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Admin Wiki

I am truly Joe_Gazz84 on the Admin Tools Wiki. --Joe Gazz84usertalkcontribsEditor Review 01:49, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have promoted you there.   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:25, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle

I now have Huggle but I need 11 more vandalism reverts in order for Huggle to work when I get the rollback feature. Wayne Olajuwon chat 15:10, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where did you get all the information you have on your huggle page. Wayne Olajuwon chat 15:13, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I created the page with this edit, and Huggle has been updating it, although I have tweaked it on occasion.   — Jeff G.  ツ 02:06, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Wayne Olajuwon chat 14:51, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How do you revert edits by more than one user? Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:30, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not on the final edit when I ask Huggle to revert.   — Jeff G.  ツ 21:30, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:35, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uw-username

Hey Jeff. There's not really much point in slapping a uw-username on the talk page of an indef'd editor and you wiped my block notice when you did it. I assume you didn't mean to, but try to be careful. You might like User:NuclearWarfare/Mark-blocked script.js, which makes all links to a links to a blocked editors user or talk page appear with a line through them and italicised if they're indef'd. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:07, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, that was an edit conflict. I must have had the page open for editing for about 11 minutes while I was doing something else. I did not intend to remove your block notice. Thanks for the pointer, I have added that script to my monobook.js.   — Jeff G.  ツ 18:20, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The IP

Hi, I've just noticed you talking to that IP about Rafael Cavalcante, since I have the IP on watchlist. Just to let you know that the IP is correct. Though not conventionally sourced, all mixed martial artists have an external link to sherdog at the bottom of their page. On that page, you can find the proof of Cavalcante being a light heavyweight fighter. All the best! Paralympiakos (talk) 19:52, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Would it be too much trouble for editors of those articles to put "per sherdog" or similar in their Edit Summaries?   — Jeff G.  ツ 19:54, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think the rationale involved is that anyone who views the edit is an MMA fan, who by default would know that Feijao is that weight. I think that the sport is secluded enough that a lot of us think that no-one else would possibly get involved. Unfortunately, recent changes can sometimes drag in those uninvolved with the sport and problems arise (not that I blame you at all). Paralympiakos (talk) 20:09, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unbiased, Relevant and Constructive images being removed

Hey Jeff,

I'm trying to figure out why you are removing my edits to DART's Wiki page. I'm also wondering why you are planning on blockinm me from editing it, from this computer at least :). How is am image biased? How does this violate any terms of use? Do you think the people researching DART do not deserve to know their most valuable assett is not safe in their parking lots? Do you not think they would find it productive to know that they are taking a huge financial risk simply by parking in these lots. I think they have the right to know. When I was researching DART it would have been a godsend for someone to of done what I am trying to. I would have saved thousands, and they could too. Is that not productive? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.96.192.34 (talk) 20:04, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry to hear what happened to your vehicle, but I would be very surprised if the DART parking lots did not have some sort of legal disclaimer like "WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LEFT IN YOUR VEHICLE" or "PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK". Your accounts of what happened to you are primary sources; Wikipedia relies on verifiable information from reliable secondary sources.   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:08, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coventries

Hello G, I did a stupid thing I have been working on the article I posted and did not mean to make it live In fact, there's already an article on the subject, the artist Keith Coventry, on Wikipedia and I was planning to integrate it with the existing one and was using 'Coventries' as temp file name for my reference only before I did so. But I sent it live - and then I made it blank thinking, as you surmised, that it would delete it. I have looked at the guide notes on this, but wondered if you could suggest the best thing to do. I would really like to incorporate what I have written into existing wiki entry as I have worked very hard on it. Viccol —Preceding unsigned comment added by Viccol1 (talkcontribs) 20:29, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can still copy it from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Viccol1/Coventries&oldid=384644038 or http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Viccol1/Coventries&action=edit&oldid=384644038   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:36, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for showing me I can retrieve the information, but I am still left with the problem that I have created a page - Coventries - that I have no need for. I suppose I have to go through the procedure outlined to remove it, yes? Can you assure me this will not mean I will be banned from making Wikipedia entries? Viccol —Preceding unsigned comment added by Viccol1 (talkcontribs) 20:53, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can keep it now that it is a user subpage User:Viccol1/Coventries. When you are ready to have it deleted, just tag it {{db-g7}}.   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:55, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting edits

If someone removes most of the information that is on article about somebody which includes removing categories even if they put an edit summary is that edit still vandalism? Wayne Olajuwon chat 20:32, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's removal of content without explanation, covered by {{uw-delete1}} et al.   — Jeff G.  ツ 20:38, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Thanks! Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:08, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, why sometimes Huggle doesn't let me revert vandalism? Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:10, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Generally because a whitelisted user (another person reverting vandalism) got to that particular vandalism first.   — Jeff G.  ツ 21:12, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay and thanks for the information! Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:19, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome.   — Jeff G.  ツ 23:39, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Content for Brand Licensing Page

Hi Jeff,

My name is Pete Canalichio and I have been trying to contribute to the content on the "brand licensing" wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brand_licensing. The current content is from a legal perspective and we would like to provide a "brand" perspective to the information.

I have several years of experience in brand licensing and have authored several copyright modules on the topic. I had referenced one of these modules - "Introduction to Brand Licensing" in the content that I added in.

Here is the summary of the edits I provided: Gave a definition of brand licensing from a business perspectives. Included sections on why companies license brands, expectations of licensors and licensees, explained the brand licensing process including the licensed product process flow and the royalty payments process flow.

Here is a link to the history of edits we have made: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Brand_licensing&action=history

We'd appreciate any help in improving the current content on the page.

Thanks, Pcanalichio (talk) 00:36, 14 September 2010 (UTC)Pete[reply]

Please discuss your content by starting page Talk:Brand licensing or a new section on WP:COIN. Also, please see WP:COI, WP:DCP, WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:OR. Thank you.   — Jeff G.  ツ 00:43, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just nominated an article that you have contributed to: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Most Hated Family in America. Wolfview (talk) 16:15, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Twinkle

How do you remove Twinkle? Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:05, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I would want to, but if someone does want to remove Twinkle there are two ways, depending on how they are using it. If they are using it as a gadget, they can go to Special:Preferences, click the "Gadgets" tab, and uncheck the box for Twinkle. If they are using it as a script in their monobook.js, vector.js, or other .js file, they can remove it from that file like you did in these edits.   — Jeff G.  ツ 00:14, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, okay. Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:24, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Most Hated Family in America

Your AFD comment here mentioned reliable source coverage. I have worked on the article, expanded it, and added coverage from secondary sources. (I am still in the process of research on it, have over 50 more sources to go through) Perhaps you could revisit? Thank you for your time. -- Cirt (talk) 05:09, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent job so far - I changed my vote.   — Jeff G.  ツ 11:57, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, very much, for your kind words at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Most Hated Family in America about my work on the article. Much appreciated. Cheers, -- Cirt (talk) 14:54, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are very welcome.   — Jeff G.  ツ 15:13, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About vandalism

If a user blanks a page without an edit summary, even if it's for deletion, is it also vandalism? Wayne Olajuwon chat 20:34, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Only if the page is not in their own userspace.   — Jeff G.  ツ 00:50, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay and Huggle isn't letting me log in because of an unknown error. Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:07, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

3RR in spades

Nydied [1], [2], [3], [4] (last is revert as he had questioned cite for him being founder of company - I furnished the cite, and he then edits the same sentence to "was at one time" known - which certainy appears to be a revert and not a simple edit (his adding tags etc. do not count for sure). 4RR in barely over an hour. Not to mention his poor taste on my talk page at [5] after I told him not to post on my talk page. Collect (talk) 02:49, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
