November 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm 64andtim. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User talk:Soetermans that didn't seem very civil, so it may have been removed. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — 64andtim (chatsee here) 07:09, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What was so uncivil about my expressing annoyance at wiki rules not seemingly applying everywhere across the platform? Is it because I curse? My bad for being bold. I thought wiki wasn't censored? This utter confusion is what I was expressing. Do the rules only apply sometimes? When is it okay to curse? When is it not? Why do I see "welcomed a child" on other pages and get told that it's not okay to use on another? Why haven't all the pages been corrected? Create the anti-child welcoming bot or something. I'm joking but like I said it's frustrating. The only reason I changed it is because I found having to read "the couple's child was born" twice in a row a little boring. I checked a few other pages before I did it but apparently that's not a good barometer for editing so I won't do that again. 107.115.153.58 (talk) 07:46, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
This didn't come off as particular civil, but I myself wouldn't say it's a personal attack. To address the matter at hand, encyclopedic tone can be boring. To "welcome a child" is fluffy and not appropriate. That's all. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 08:04, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not appropriate but yet those other pages still say a child was welcomed. Make your rules apply across the board. That is really all, and this is my last reply on the matter. I'm done. Happy editing to you and yours. Bye. 107.115.153.58 (talk) 16:38, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's the WP:WHATABOUTX argument, we can only edit so many articles. This is done voluntarily after all. But you too can help in improving those articles! soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 20:07, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
