Recent edit to Marcus Stoinis

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Marcus Stoinis), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Materialscientist (talk) 11:20, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Explanation and invitation

[edit]

There are two messages above the Welcome message I just added. I don't know if they are about things that you did. The problem is that when you edit without being registered and logging on, the only identifier Wikipedia has for you is the IP address assigned to you by your ISP. It is not unique to you and may have been assigned to others in the past. It also provides limited privacy, in that with freely available tools, I can easily tell you are probably posting from the Cheltenham area in Melbourne. If you register, nobody can publicly work out your location. So please register. HiLo48 (talk) 23:20, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
