Explanation and invitation

There are two messages above the Welcome message I just added. I don't know if they are about things that you did. The problem is that when you edit without being registered and logging on, the only identifier Wikipedia has for you is the IP address assigned to you by your ISP. It is not unique to you and may have been assigned to others in the past. It also provides limited privacy, in that with freely available tools, I can easily tell you are probably posting from the Cheltenham area in Melbourne. This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address.
