Hi. I undid your edit of the lede on this article. Your edit rendered the sentence grammatically incorrect. It can't refer to either the killing of Europeans and/or the killing of Native Americans, as either/or is a correlative conjunction, but either/and is not. The sentence is making no judgment on one massacre over the other; it's simply correct, both grammatically and factually, this way.
