At the start of the article it says:
"in which a modified luminescent fin ray (the esca or illicium) acts as a lure for other fish. The luminescence comes from symbiotic bacteria, which are thought to be acquired from seawater, that dwell in and around the sea."
Later in the article it says:
"The source of luminescence is symbiotic bacteria that dwell in and around the esca"
The fact that the language is identical indicates the author intended to type "esca" rather than "sea", but was likely foiled by some autocorrect. Especially since the subject of the paragraph is the esca, where the bacteria do dwell in and around. It doesn't even make sense to say they dwell "in and around" the sea. 50.45.186.45 (talk) 05:25, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
