Spokane Chiefs

[edit]

Hi, please stop inserting the statement that the SMVA is the 2nd largest WHL arena not used for professional sports. It is not true (Vancouver and Saskatoon both have larger arenas), and moreover, it is not highly relevent to the Spokane Chiefs themselves. Thank you. Resolute 22:08, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, unless you have a 'varifiable source' to back your claims, your edtis could be viewed as 'vandalism'. That could lead to your being blocked. GoodDay 19:53, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As Cgc1980, I have once again changed the page. The Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, not the SMVA as you called it, is the 2nd biggest arena in the WHL that has not used for professional sports. If you want to keep saying Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum has not been used for professional sports, take a look at the Wikipedia page on the Pacific Coliseum. It clearly says the Canucks played there from 1970-1995. Pacific Coliseum

I'm curious, which pro team plays out of the Pacific Coliseum now? At any rate, the Spokane Shock play at SVMA (apologies for my error on the acronym for the arena.), and the AF2, while being a low minor league, is still a professional league. Your statement is patently false. Please stop adding it to the article. Resolute 18:02, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's why it says HAS and not IS. The Spokane Shock are NOT a professional sports team. Neither are the Spokane Chiefs. The statement is not false. I'd be more than happy to pull all of my edits from this page. But then there'd be nothing left.

Actually, they are. Says so in both the team and league articles. Also, the NCAA considers the WHL to be professional too. Now you are down to arguing semantics. Resolute 18:11, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand why you are mad. I proved your original point wrong, and yet you sit on here and accuse me of arguing semantics. Professional sports refers to NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL. I can't believe this is the thanks I get for all the work I've done on this page. The next time I make an adjustment to this page, do I need to check in with you first?

No...professional teams are any teams where the players are paid to play. Which is why the statement you keep trying to add is false. That being said if you want to be technical a neutral site NHL game was played in Spokane at one point which would make the statement false even if you wanted only use those 4 leagues. --Djsasso 18:21, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can twist and turn every little point. The fact of the matter is, professional sports are considered to be the major four. I'm not going to argue about this any longer. I just find it funny that at first my claim was disputed because resolute thought Pacific Coliseum wasn't used for professional sports. I proved that wrong. Now, we've moved on to a different argument because the first didn't fly.

He didn't think it wasn't used for professional sports. He said it wasn't used now. And no professional sports are not only considered those 4 leagues. Those four leagues are called the majors. Go look up the word professional and see what it means. --Djsasso 18:30, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your edits on this article are appreciated. That does not mean, however, that they are infallable. In this instance, we are attempting to ensure accuracy. One of this projects key goals is to be accurate. This statement has been argued inaccurate on two fronts. Like you, we are hoping to improve this article, and this encyclopedia. Resolute 18:35, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
According to the anon-user, the AHL, Minor League Baseball (to name a few) aren't professional leagues. I beg to differ, believe me those players are being paid. GoodDay 18:59, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My point is proven again. Cgc1980

For clarity's sake, what is your point again? GoodDay 16:34, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
