Welcome!
[edit]Hello! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. You are welcome to edit anonymously; however, creating an account is free and has several benefits (for example, the ability to create pages, upload media and edit without one's IP address being visible to the public).
As you get started, you may find this short tutorial helpful:
Alternatively, the contributing to Wikipedia page covers the same topics.
If you have any questions, we have a friendly space where experienced editors can help you here:
If you are not sure where to help out, you can find a task here:
Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.
Happy editing! I dream of horses (Contribs) Please notify me after replying off my talk page. Thank you. 01:48, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
Please stop with the Hawaii stuff
[edit]The the editor who keeps contributing to the articles on five French overseas departments: It suffices to say that each of those departments is a department mostly like all the others in France except that they're overseas. This is easy to comprehend without drawing analogies that don't even specify what you're trying to use the analogy to make clear. In addition, the analogy is incorrect, and it isn't helpful to anyone who doesn't already know what Hawaii's situation is— believe it or not, not every Wikipedia user is from the United States. And, finally, your attempt to say that these departments are analogous to what Hawaii would be if Hawaii were analogous— that doesn't even make sense.
Meanwhile, at least a couple of us have communicated this with you numerous times in our edit summaries. You have yet to respond at all. When you add content on Wikipedia and it's contested, you are obligated to engage in discussion over it. (See WP:BRD.) Your failure to do so crosses a line. - Giving your continuing readditions of the same material, it appears I haven't sufficiently impressed on you that you must, before you add that material again, discuss it, and achieve consensus at the talk pages of at least one of the articles, before adding it again. [edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. - If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
