'Accused' v 'Perpetrator'[edit]

Hi there,
I noticed you made an edit to 2022 Buffalo shooting, changing the word 'accused' to 'perpetrator'. I know it is a sensitive topic, and I won't revert your edit, but I just wanted to let you know that, in terms of the criminal law, 'accused' and 'perpetrator' are distinct. Technically, a 'perpetrator' is someone convicted of a crime, whereas an 'accused' is usually a criminal defendant, whose guilt is yet to be judicially determined. In the context of the article, as you say, there is no real question of guilt, so the more colloquial usage of 'perpetrator' (see police use of 'perp') can probably be allowed. That being said, you mentioned a discrepancy with regards to this usage of terminology comparing persons of colour and white people? If that's the case could you let me know of some examples here on wikipedia, as I'd like to correct them if possible? Otherwise, I know days like these are hard for everyone, hope you're okay! ƒin (talk) 06:04, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop the ridiculous rants[edit]

Your edit summary rants on 2022 Buffalo shooting come from a major misunderstanding of how criminal law refers to people (even if it's indisputably them) who are yet to be convicted of a crime as "accused" rather than "perpetrator(s)". Treating Wikipedia as a conglomerate (as if it's you versus a "them"), acting like all editors here are "white" (whatever that means to you), but particularly "literally gonna tell Twitter what the fuck y'all are doing!" has to be some of the most pathetic drivel I've seen written on this website. Oh no, not Twitter! You honestly think you know the identities of everybody editing an article and are trying to say it's the same people editing both the Buffalo and the Uvalde shooting articles and everything must be racism. Of course you're the same person who said it was "disrespectful" to decapitalise "t" in "the Marias" per MOS:THECAPS. I don't think editing Wikipedia is for you as you have shown you can't control yourself over even the simplest of issues. Ss112 05:41, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
