Hi Dirkbb We printmakers generally consider woodcuts and wood engravings to be two different things, depending on whether or not the wood is incised end-on to the grain. However, I see that Wikipedia prefers to regard wood engraving as 'a variety of woodcut', so I'm happy to defer to the higher wisdom in this instance and avoid a handbags-at-dawn situation.
