Thank you for getting back to me quickly however I have to disagree as someone who follows hindu traditions. Not only is Om gravely wrong it is offensive to change it from it's original Aum. It is akin to saying 1+1=3 and I am not joking. The whole point of a mantra is the sound and vibration it makes and Om is not the same as Aum as much as it may seem.
Please for the respect of this mantra and the culture it comes from can you change it to the real version Aum and not this modern western misuse Om.
Regards

This issue is extensively discussed with reference to sources on the Om article, and those sources seem to strongly point towards the "Om" spelling. I personally have no specific knowledge of or opinion on it. Either way, unilaterally editing the Om Namah Shivaya page, in a way that conflicts with the article's title and without reference to sources, is not the way to go about changing this. You would be better off starting a discussion about the issue either at Talk:Om Namah Shivaya or Talk:Om, but be prepared to bring reliable sources if you wish to convince other editors of the necessity of the change.
