Conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Advocari. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Battery Innovation Center, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:33, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I do have a measure of COI that I had hoped to address with both the admission on my user page and the BIC page itself. I had hoped this disclosure would allow me to edit pages associated with the field of energy storage, as I can't be seen as covertly promoting specific technologies due to the BIC's explicit nature as an independent nonprofit 3rd party in the industry. This COI was also my reasoning behind having such a minimalist start to the page. If the COI issue could be resolved, I could easily add more references to support the validity of having a BIC article to begin with, but am otherwise hesitant to add too much to the page due to the COI.

Essentially, it seemed like an easy and necessary article to move me from a reader to an editor of pages, while establishing my credibility as an editor within the subject matter with which I am a leading expert in the field, but I don't mind just being a reader only again if you disagree. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.244.112.13 (talk) 18:50, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly, as the research director of this facility, you have significant knowledge in the field which would be welcome at Wikipedia. I would encourage you to find article in the field of energy storage that you could improve. However, writing about your own facility might not be the best idea.
