March 2009[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Agricultural Camera (AgCam) [Agricultural Camera], you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. tutterMouse (talk) 20:39, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Remote sensing. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Eve Hall (talk) 21:01, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want help?[edit]

Hi, it has come to my attention that you have made several large contributions related to Agricultural Camera (AgCam) [Agricultural Camera]. These are appreciated, but you seem to be an editor that does not have much Wikipedia experience yet, as you have made some errors. You have been warned about these errors, but don't let that scare you of. If you want, I will assist you in cleaning up some of the issues you have encountered, and maybe explain some things to you so that you might be able to avoid some of the errors in the future :D --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 21:40, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I cleaned the article a bit for you. I hope you like it. I will also explain some of the mistakes you made
  1. some of the text is a tad to "advertising/press release" like. A more neutral tone is desired. For you this is extra difficult because you are personally involved with the topic.
  2. you included too much information about AgCam in other articles. In wikipedia we call this undue weight. Every topic has it's OWN page/article and other articles are only supposed to have very short mentions or summaries about what another topic entails. If you don't do this, some people will accuse you of spamming, but often it is only a mistake.
  3. you included too many images. Wikipedia is not an image gallery.
  4. you chose a username that suggests that you might be operating in name of an organization, or sharing a username with multiple people of an organization. It is usually preferred if you choose a name that is more likely to represent a single person. Be that a pseudonym or not.
This is just some of the things that went wrong, but that is quite common with new users. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. You can contact me on my talkpage. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 22:11, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
