Misplaced in article space? GILO   A&E 23:03, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Yup, my mistake. It should be deleted. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 23:05, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Single Assignment

I saw that you reverted my changes on the Single Assignment thing because of lack of references. I agree. :D

We actually had a reference to the global variable part, the linked C presentation uses a global variable to show side effects and race conditions. However, I haven't found a good source to link about the mutable closures. I am writing a blog post on the subject, but I have no idea if it would be enough.

In any case, I think we should make clear that multiple assignments *may* cause side effects. The previous version (before our edits) was very assertive that it caused side effects and it was wrong.

Josevalim (talk) 07:28, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

My understanding is that an evaluation of expression does not have a side effect if it does not change an observable state of the machine. See Concepts in programming languages, by John C. Mitchell. Both global variable and mutable closures usage do appear to change the observable state of the machine by definition, though I'm not an expert on functional languages. Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:34, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

durum

hi, i removed durum from see also in "Taboon bread" because it is autoreferencing. It makes no sense to have it there: if you click it you are redirected in the same page. bye —Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.185.12.238 (talk) 14:51, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Good point, my mistake. Welcome! AgadaUrbanit (talk) 14:54, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. We either have one person IP hopping or people working together. Have you looked at our article 'Name of Armenia' as that doesn't look right at first glance. Dougweller (talk) 07:15, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

RfC

Hi, Could you please comment on the following:

RfC: Is Polukhov's statement worth being kept in the article?

Thanks in advance. -- Ashot  (talk) 11:43, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Administrator review of Quds Day and Ramot

This message is to inform you that I have initiated an administrator review of the recent editing at the articles Quds Day (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and Ramot (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). This review will result in any editors whose conduct is disruptive being sanctioned under the provision of WP:ARBPIA#Discretionary sanctions. You are welcome to participate in the review, which is located at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement#Israel/Palestine articles generally. Regards, AGK [] 12:09, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Stepanakert Airport

Hi, can I know why I was reverted? Check my edits on talkpage, the last is in the history but not recorded. I am just attributing the wording to the document in question instead of making it as a fact, which it is not. Anything inside NK is not considered as occupied, the UN documents refer to the buffer region not inside NK as occupation. Vidovler (talk) 00:19, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

The edit was reverted per WP:CLAIM. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 19:48, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, was this better. If not, how to word that? Vidovler (talk) 21:01, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Just FYI, since you are one of the main participants. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 20:00, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Your edit at United Kingdom

There is an ongoing discussion about this already at the tal page. If you were unaware of this, you might want to self-revert. If you were aware (and although I personally don't have a problem with your edit) I think you may well be reverted/heavily critisized for making a bold edit in the middle of an ongoing discussion, where WP:BRD is clearly inapplicable. DeCausa (talk) 22:30, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

I would not mind if you revert me, I will not WP:EW. Please note pound ref garbage though, this probably should not be reverted. With that the edit is within discussion and sourced: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; note - Great Britain includes England, Scotland, and Wales. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 22:40, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
No, I won't be reverting. As I said, I myself don't have a problem with what you've done. Just a head's up of what's going on on the Talk page and likely reactions. DeCausa (talk) 22:51, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Barnstar

The BLP Barnstar
It's nice to see someone actually taking BLP policy seriously, and making articles policy-compliant. JN466 22:35, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Elaboration

Agada I dont exacly understand what you mean by your comment in Stepanakert Airport page: I see an effort to find an agreed compromise wording for a fair attribution of Doc 12590. The article is a good example of WP:RECENTISM: long-term, historical view is required. [1]. Can you please elaborate? Neftchi (talk) 17:14, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Re: Neftchi

According to this warning here, which is apparently still in effect, Neftchi is not allowed to make more than a single revert on a page per day. In your opinion, has he already violated this injunction on the Stepanakert Airport article at least once? Regards, --Marshal Bagramyan (talk) 16:39, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Marshall has presented you with false information. I was placed under 1RR for 4 months on 21 December 2009. See here for proof, just search my name and you will see that I havent been under 1RR restrictions for more than a year. So Im not in violation of anything. Neftchi (talk) 19:17, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Dear Agada, I do regard this as a bad faith complaint by MarshallBagramyan because he either knew the exact duration of my 4 months 1RR parole or did not care to check the log. As you experienced yourself, it was misleading and could have had unjust consequences. To sum up, he owes an apology to both of us. Neftchi (talk) 20:13, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
I guess the relevant quote might be Use of the site for political struggle accompanied by harassment of opponents is extremely disruptive and absolutely unacceptable. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 20:47, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
I think at the very least we are entitled to an apology from Marshall. Could you please look into this? Neftchi (talk) 18:32, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Not quite a barnstar, but...

Biosketch (talk) 06:23, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

LoL :-). Maybe that double image will find its way to my userpage. 10x mate. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 15:05, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Your bold edit may be paying off: see Talk:United Kingdom#Edits by AgadaUrbanit DeCausa and Ghmyrtle made this morning...you may want to add your "yes"! DeCausa (talk) 15:23, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
