Amarkov, I indented a comment of yours on this RfA, because it appeared as a double vote. —AldeBaer 06:22, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mangum[edit]

Well caught. I mentioned this on the admin channel. Weird. How did you know it might be broken? --Tony Sidaway 23:47, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw an "edit this page" link, which shouldn't have appeared if it was protected. The problem was that it was deleted after protection, and that apparently killed it off. -Amarkov moo! 23:48, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That is true—when a protected page is deleted and re-created, the new version isn't automatically protected. Newyorkbrad 23:49, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{COI}}[edit]

Can you undo the gutting of this template as you did with COI2? The page is protected. Thanks. -N 00:29, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's protected; that's why I can't undo it. I filed a RFPP report to get the level reduced when I closed, so hopefully that will go through soon. -Amarkov moo! 00:30, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship?[edit]

If you're interested, and have considered the issues from the previous RfA, I'd be happy to nom you. Let me know. Trebor 11:06, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jeffrey Vernon Merkey[edit]

Now that Mr. Merkey has been blocked, there is probably no point to posting to the RfC any more and I would urge you not to. Regards, Newyorkbrad 00:05, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know, I was just adding on my agreement that it should be closed. -Amarkov moo! 00:09, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks. Incidentally, good luck if you do decide to seek adminship again. Newyorkbrad 00:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. -Amarkov moo! 00:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I should also like to say, Amarkov, that I've found your comments measured and reasonable. Where RfA is concerned, BLP remains for me a third rail, for the same reasons I'm trying to stop the attacks on Merkey - I find it morally disgusting and completely unacceptable that anonymous people are provided a platform to attack real live ones, in mainspace or on talk - but I should like to think that whatever disagreements we might (or might not) still have in this respect are neither clouded nor compounded by any residual personal animosity.
In any event, thank you for weighing in on the attack SPAs; I shall feel much better about the world if and when they are blocked.Proabivouac 05:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you note on hop[edit]

Looking a second time, it turns out that I misinterpreted the comment on AfD; it was referring to the Wiktionary article. Could we get this temporarily undeleted for review? -Amarkov moo! 01:50, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I greatly appreciate you looking into this for reconsideration. Repliedthemockturtle 02:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to let you know that I opened an RfC on myself in response to the concerns raised during my RfA over my actions in the Gary Weiss dispute. The RfC is located here and I welcome any comments or questions you may have. CLA 09:31, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD for Mormon men in black[edit]

I just wandered over to AfD to take a look at today's listings and to follow up on some of my own and noticed that article at the top of the list. It was a clear CSD G10 Attack page. It was subsequently tagged by myself and I asked an admin who I just happened to be speaking to at the time to immediately review the page. Needless to say the page has been blown away and AfD closed. I will keep this page on watch, and if it's recreated it will be AfD again as a recreation of a deleted page, which will also give grounds for a SALTing. Drop me a line with any questions. Cheers, Thewinchester (talk) 05:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It didn't really fit G10, but I don't have a big objection. -Amarkov moo! 13:27, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

COI Templates.[edit]

Hi, I'm sending you a message because of your involvement with the Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2007_May_18#Template:COI_and_Template:COI2 discussion. The result of the TfD was no-consensus, but there was a significant expressed consensus for editing the templates to bring them into line with good practice. Unfortunately this has not happened, and the templates have been left pretty much in the state they were before the TfD. Would you like to assist in bringing these templates in line with good practice? --Barberio 16:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not clear what rewording had consensus, so using the TfD result to make people accept it won't work very well. I'll look at the discussions, but I have no guarantee that I'll be any help. -Amarkov moo! 00:40, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Coords dec to dms[edit]

You recently closed my nomination to delete {{Coords dec to dms}} saying that "There is significant concern about the current accuracy and usability of {{Coord}}".

I now of no such concerns about either matter; so please cite them.

There have been concerns about the readiness of Google Earth to parse coord, but that is now resolved; there is no indication that Google even know of Coords dec to dms.

coord has existed since late March/ early April, and is already used on over 27,000 articles.

Coords dec to dms was created on 29 May; all of its functions are in coord, with many more besides, and it is currently used by zero articles.

Kindly re-open the discussion. Andy Mabbett 21:00, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The people in the discussion had the concerns, not me. I suggest you ask them why they have concerns, because I don't know. Like I said, if the issues are resolved, another TfD would be fine. -Amarkov moo! 21:31, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
None of those peopel raised issues such as you describe. Andy Mabbett 22:04, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One person said that it was inaccurate in rounding, and there were links to discussions that show it's not really accepted. If you really think it was the wrong decision still, then go ahead and relist it. -Amarkov moo! 22:11, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ColScott[edit]

Hello,

You had a question at the Administrator's notice board.

"I am not seeing that he said that anywhere. Could you point to it or something? -Amarkov moo! 04:33, 8 June 2007 (UTC) "

Here is an answer.

Here you go: [1]

#No attempt at all was taken to contact the blocking admin(me) prior to unblocking, so the unblocking admin probably did not know the level of harassment you have engaged in.

You can see here, that H was contacted (and replied) before the unblock occurred. [2]

This individual has contacted the foundation (by telephone). I've requested an admin unblock him. A good deal of his issues have to do with his interaction with Philip Gronowski.

We should not be experiencing any issues of the like that earned him a block in the first place, and if there are any issues with the biography that interests him, he will contact me directly.

Thanks for your thoughtfulness regarding that. Cary Bass 22:12, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

This user harassed my userpage with spam for weeks after the block, it is all in the history. I fully expect these sorts of problems from this user in the future if this user is unblocked. Related difs: [49][50] and the contribts of 72.89.210.235. For the record I oppose an unblock of this user. HighInBC(Need help? Ask me) 22:55, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

The unblocking of this user is in accordance with additional events. The actions of this user regarding your userpage were regrettable. He admits his wrongdoing, and I am asking him not to engage you in the future. Please note that I am watching the situation closely, and should any behavior such as this recommence, we will not hesitate in taking action against it. Cary Bass demandez 12:14, 18 April 2007 (UTC).

Well I hope there is a good reason then. HighInBC(Need help? Ask me) 13:35, 18 April 2007 (UTC).

Here is the unblock an hour and a half after the discussion with H (from April)

14:52, 18 April 2007 Phil Boswell (Talk | contribs) unblocked ColScott (contribs) (has promised to behave, and will be kept on a very short leash)

Uncle uncle uncle 04:48, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, my mistake. I thought the unblock was on the 16th. Still, the message was saying "he will be unblocked", not "let's discuss why you blocked him". -Amarkov moo! 00:49, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikistalking[edit]

WP:HARASS might apply to you. You have been following me around reverting edits for weeks. Find another hobby. Jeffrey Vernon Merkey 04:13, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I happen to be interested in some of the more... odd Mormon teachings. That means that I may sometimes revert your edits on such articles. Not that I'm Wikistalking you. -Amarkov moo! 04:15, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You have been involved in every harrassing event since I cam back to this site. You acted in concert with the trolls during the RFC. You participated with them in revert wars. I AGF until sufficient evidence exists to make me believ otherwise. Ryan ... Jeffrey Vernon Merkey 04:24, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Um, no, when it was brought to my attention that there were true trolls, I was pretty set against them. The fact that I happened to agree with them that you did bad things does not make me a troll. As for being involved in every harassing event, that would be because such things happen on pages I've long had watchlisted. -Amarkov moo! 04:27, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
waga! Jeffrey Vernon Merkey 04:28, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that you were advised to report trolls, not engage them. If you honestly still believe I am a troll, then by all means, go report me. But saying "waga" is pretty much completely unconstructive. -Amarkov moo! 04:29, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It means "bully" (moo!). Jeffrey Vernon Merkey 04:41, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for railing on you. I just read your userpage and your categories and I have a daughter born the same year as you are. I have to imagine my daughter and my interactions with her and realize I was too mean to you. Very Sorry. Jeffrey Vernon Merkey 08:05, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
