Lomustine
[edit]I have reverted your edits to Lomustine because it appears you have copied the text verabatim from the FDA fact sheet about this drug. Since most information created by any agency of the US government is de facto in the public domain, this is not strictly a copyright violation, but it also not really in line with the purposes of the encyclopedia. FDA fact sheets are intended for a specific audience: doctors. Wikipedia is intended for a broader audience who will likely not be in a position to understand any of the material in the FDA fact sheet. The FDA document can be used as a source from which useful information for the article can be culled, but merely copying the information verbatim is not helpful. If you do insist on copying this data (I won't revert again if you do, but I will open a discussion of the matter at the talk page), you must at least give attribution (place the template {{US government sources}} on the talk page with the appropriate parameters). Lomustine
[edit]Dear User WikiDan61:
I apologize for the inconvenience. I made the Lomustine edit on behalf of NextSource Biotechnology, LLC. We are an emerging Specialty Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Marketing Company focused on Consolidating, Re-Branding and Launching "Matured & Orphan Drugs." NextSource Biotechnology owns the manufacturing rights of Lomustine CCNU. I was asked by upper management to add more content to the Lomustine's Wikipedia page. I was provided with the information I included in the page; most of the info in the FDA fact sheet was provided by us and it is available in the package insert we include with our medicine. Although most of the information I included in the edits is available in the FDA fact sheet, the idea was to make it easier to find since not everyone is inclined to go to the FDA website to look for this information. We thought it will be helpful to make this information readily available on Wikipedia due to the fact that your website is one of the most visited informational sources on the web. All of the information about Lomustine is factual, and we've made sure it was understandable.
Please advise if we can move forward with this project. We would like to plan everything in the correct form as we value the integrity and importance of Wikipedia.
Best regards,
Andryck Toscano

- Please see WP:COI. As an employee of the company that presently distributes the drug, you should exercise restraint when editing this article. For the most part, you should restrict yourself to posting requests for updates on the talk page. As for the drug fact sheet: as I've mentioned, that isn't really appropriate for an encyclopedia entry. (Wikipedia is not a guide or a how-to manual.) Linking to the FDA page (as the page currently does) should be sufficient for anyone who cares to look into the drug further. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:06, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
