Image Tagging for Image:Slide2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Slide2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:Slide3.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Slide3.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 09:34, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on "Tony Fish", requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Digital footprint. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. MuffledThud (talk) 11:12, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Tony Fish, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. MuffledThud (talk) 11:17, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Tony Fish. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. MuffledThud (talk) 11:18, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Raziman T V (talk) 11:19, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Tony Fish. Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 11:30, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for spam, advertising, or promotion. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Help

you guys move to fast for someone learning - little unfair - so I am now blocked and cannot talk to sort this out. How can you unblock?

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

am learning and trying to work out why promotion? I am not advertising (promoting services), trying to be factual, you are moving so fast I cannot keep up, I am editing and this talk part is hard to find

Decline reason:

Declined as moot due to a username change unblock being acted upon. —Jeremy (v^_^v Stop... at a WHAMMY!!) 19:06, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Your unblock requests

[edit]

Please do not submit multiple requests each time you have something more to say. Try to summarise your request in one section. Someone will get back to you. SGGH ping! 15:02, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As I see it, there are some requirements to be fulfilled before your account is unblocked. It's a case of illustrating that you have read up on the policies we all have to abide by.
  1. You must illustrate that you understand why you have been blocked. By inserting content that promotes or draws attention to items or entities with which you have a close affiliation, you are treading over the polices at WP:COI and WP:SPAM. Promotional content does not need to be so brazen as [www.google.com An external link to the best search engine ever!] User:Google, 15:11, 5 January 2010 (UTC). It is extremely inadvisable to write about yourself (WP:AUTO) and you should always way for a third party to write about yourself or topics related to you. One cannot write objectively about oneself - it's impossible.
  2. You must illustrate that you will work to avoid violating policy upon your return to Wikipedia. To that end, I suggest it important for you to have your username changed (read WP:U) as at the moment, your username violates policy because your edits have links to work related to tonyfish and a website related to tonyfish. I suspect if you were unblocked from your current block you would be rapidly reblocked for username violations. The instructions for changing your username can be found at WP:U.

Hope this makes sense to you. Remember, you can reply on your own talk page despite being blocked. Please discuss below without the use of further unblock templates. Regards, SGGH ping! 15:11, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

yes - understand, no more unblocks -

I am trying to ensure that someone on Wikipedia knows that the content exists. Any idea how I can get this account unblocked so I can finish trying to make digital footprint more valuable - also, please can you therefore reference mydigitalfootprint in that section as it will make the entire resource more valuable. The content is free!

I know exactly how this account can be unblocked, you can address the issues I mentioned above and I can unblock you. The fact that the content is free is not an issue - you weren't blocked for any copyright violation. The issue is: is the content you are trying to link to in the article actually notable enough? I understand you believe it to be notable, but if third party reliable sources have not identified the topic as notable, then all that is being done is one party linking to an entity with which they are closely affiliated, and that is promotional linking. Did you read the policy pages I linked to? SGGH ping! 15:55, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is your suggestion that I dump this account - create a new one that has nothing to do with me - as I cannot change the name as I am blocked? Tony Fish (talk) 15:31, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is that the username has affiliations to a corporation, organisation, or product etc. with which you have strong associations (the links you have added promote your site/identity as a source of knowledge, advancing your beliefs and agendas, that is promotion.) "create a new one that has nothing to do with me" is the core principle of changing a promotional name to a non-promotional one. If I wrote books about computer programming under the name "Ernst Swithens" and had a username of "Ernst Swithens", and then I inserted into the article computer programming a link to my website and my book, I would be promoting my content and book and thus my username would be blocked. Furthermore, you don't need to be unblocked to change your name. If you read WP:U which I linked to you will find a section on changing your username - you apply for a username change and if it is acceptable you are unblocked and given the new username, provided you address the other issues I raised. SGGH ping! 15:55, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, understand all of this and will make sure that a third party does the updates. Know the policy and the fine line between promotion and providing content that is biased. However, unbiased work is different and a book has a published and the recommendations come from Pekka Ala-Pietilla x CEO Nokia, Esther Dyson, Nicholas Negroponte, Peter Cochrane etc - probably not me saying acceptable but other expects, who unfortunately will not have the time to update here - anyway my problem

Have requested (doing now) new username - thanks for help and looking forward to an unlocked account again Tony Fish (talk) 16:24, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tonyfish → AMF

[edit]

Your COI is clear that experts should be allowed to deliver input - as you will see from my edit to digital footprint today it is to ensure that all the facts are there for users to be helped. The article has been 'dead' for a long time and I wanted to update with about 70 articles from various independent web sources. The current edit has removed material content that is of benefit to the wider community and has been changed mid update. This approach makes it difficult for someone who is willing to spend the time, as interested and understands a difficult topic to spend time updating - difficult balance ! Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to AMF (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username or Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Remember, Tony, your new username may still be blocked if you carry on with your contributions in the same manner as before. You may be an expert in the field, however you must cite with reliable third party sources all your additions.

thank you - Tony Fish (talk) 21:10, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For some reason your request has disappeared from the list. You might have to re-add it. Not sure where it has gone. SGGH ping! 20:20, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

strange - have added again Tony Fish (talk) 12:57, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You need to go to Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations and click on "Click here to place your request." and then fill out the form accordingly. It must be done there. Regards, SGGH ping! 14:38, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

will do it there again now - thanks

File source problem with File:Slide41.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Slide41.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:13, 28 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7.
