CoI[edit]

If you are indeed Andrew Glover please read WP:COI and WP:Autobiography before editing the article about yourself again; and please do not delete cited content from Wikipedia. It may be considered vandalism for which you may be blocked from editing. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 11:29, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your false accusations of vandalism are unacceptable. Did you read the above? Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 16:56, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Andrew Glover. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 17:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your threat/warning to Pigsonthewing here was a violation of Wikipedia's no legal threats policy. That policy requires that violators be blocked until the threat is retracted. This account has been blocked from editing pages other than your talk page here until you verify that you understand and will abide by our WP:NLT policy. Thank you. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 03:28, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've unblocked. Could I recommend having a look at the Biographies of Living Persons policy. PhilKnight (talk) 00:42, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments, advice[edit]

I saw your recent problems come up on a community notice board. You need to know that there are customs/norms that you transgressed and guidelines that you need to consider. I don't doubt the circumstances or how you felt about them. Unfortunately the context cannot outweigh the desire to get things back on track without unrestrained emotions.

The note by Georgewilliamherbert about being blocked in the above section is a grim reality. You will indeed have to review that Wikipedia policy, WP:NLT, and then indicate your understanding of it in an unblock request added after his message. I don't see the method mentioned - edit your talk page and add

{{unblock|your reason here}}

and fill in the text of your reason. After reading WP:NLT hopefully you'll see how you tripped the warning and block. The idea is that reference to Wikipedia's own policies and guidelines should be enough to govern what is allowed and disallowed within Wikipedia articles. Believe, there is too much detail in those, along with enough good sense to govern well.

Of course then we get to the policies that have been mentioned with regard to the article Andrew Glover. WP:COI has been mentioned. Since Wikipedia is not just another web site, attention is warranted against where information comes from and what is put into articles. There is a worry when the main source of information about a person comes from that person. You will need to reference that policy to see what you can or cannot do.

Of course there are balances also on what should go into an article on a person. The BNP thing touches upon at least two guides, WP:BLP and WP:UNDUE, among others. The goal is to include what is important and verifiable, while discarding that which is ancillary or beside the point.

So, you are not without resources in guiding what the article contains. The key is to be WP:CIVIL and talk towards improving the article under the Wikipedia guidelines.   Shenme (talk) 04:22, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
