Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Elizabeth Streb, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. ----Rdp060707|Let's discuss about the plans 03:14, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Welcome to Wikipedia :) I saw that you added content recently to the article City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department and just wanted to let you know I reverted the edit. The edit looked like it contained information copied from their official website, and although their website doesn't have a copyright, Wikipedia does not usually use self-sourced information except in specific cases. Text copied from a website like that might also not be neutrally written, since organization websites are usually trying to promote themselves.

If you don't mind some friendly advice, I would recommend reading over the Wikipedia guideline on reliable sources, found here: WP:Reliable sources. It will help you understand which sources are usually considered "reliable" by Wikipedia standards.

And it seems that you have an interest in writing about Los Angeles artists and organizations. If you have a personal or professional connection to the topics you have been editing, that might mean you have a conflict of interest (COI). I also recommend reading the WP:Conflict of interest guideline, if that is the case.

I know I'm mentioning a lot of rules/guidelines, but don't worry too much! New users aren't expected to know everything - I just thought I'd lend a (hopefully) helpful hand and some advice. Thanks for your edits so far, and if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or ask for help at the Teahouse (a place for new editors). Cheers! - Whisperjanes (talk) 16:47, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
