Hello, TSCAD, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Tailored solutions and consulting, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tailored solutions and consulting, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. bonadea contributions talk 21:09, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

October 2016[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. BethNaught (talk) 21:11, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I apologize that the page I created did not meet Wikipedia's requirements. It was not my intention to go against their policy and create a promotional page. I would like to be unblocked because I now fully understand the requirements of Wikipedia regarding posting about an organization. My purpose for creating the page was not to advertise our company and instead was simply to include information about our company on Wikipedia. I realize that the way the text was worded needs to be updated in order to remove any biases and to make it completely objective, and I ask that I please be given another opportunity to create the page in a manner that meets Wikipedia's requirements. I would also like to request to have my username updated so that it too fits in with Wikipedia's requirements. The account will be run by me personally and not be a shared company account. I will use this account to create a non-promotional and simply informative page. Thank you.

Decline reason:

Per below. You creating a "simply informative page" about your employer is promotion, regardless of content. MER-C 11:43, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not an administrator, and have no say in what will happen to you, but having seen your page I wanted to say that unless you agree to not directly edit about your company, it is unlikely you will be unblocked. Please review the conflict of interest policy. Merely providing information is a form of promotion; if all you want to do is tell people about your company, the company should have its own website to do that as Wikipedia is not a free webhost. Wikipedia articles must indicate with independent reliable sources how the subject meets the relevant notability guidelines, in this case those for businesses. Merely providing information doesn't do that. 331dot (talk) 22:46, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

Thank you for the clarification regarding my account and the page I attempted to create. I now understand that even simply providing objective information about my company is considered promotion. I agree to not directly edit about my company and request that my username be updated to reflect my individual account. Thank you.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. I apologize for the delay. Huon (talk) 19:23, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

:Administrators will appreciate your agreement to not edit about your company, but will also likely want to know what sorts of edits you will make if unblocked. 331dot (talk) 13:29, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I concur, and would also like to note that if the purpose of writing phrases such as "unparalleled expertise and over 300 years of combined specialized experience" or "helps maximize clients’ return on security investments" was not to advertise the company, your conflict of interest seems to be so strong that you are unable to write neutrally about it and should stay well clear of doing so, directly or indirectly. (I also rather doubt those claims are verifiable, or true.) Please also review the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use and make sure that, once unblocked, you comply with the disclosure requirements laid out in the section on "paid contributions without disclosure". Huon (talk) 20:46, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification on what else is needed in order to have my blocked removed. At the moment, there are not specific contributions that I plan on making going forward, but as an avid user of Wikipedia, I will take the stance that they suggest of "if you see a problem that you can fix, do so." I also understand that my first attempt at creating the company page contained subjective copy and am confident in my abilities to write objectively moving forward, regarding any post on Wikipedia. I read through the section on "paid contributions without disclosure" as well and will ensure that I take the proper measures moving forward in order to fit in to these requirements.— Preceding unsigned comment added by TSCAD (talkcontribs)

Just so you are aware I reformatted the above post; you should only have one open request at a time. For further comment, simply write it below without the unblock request formatting. 331dot (talk) 17:13, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
