Welcome!
[edit]Hello, BETAKAPPAGAMMA, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

- The five pillars of Wikipedia

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome! —C.Fred (talk) 21:52, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Conflict of interest and username concerns
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Beta Kappa Gamma, and I noticed that your username, "BETAKAPPAGAMMA", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 21:52, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Beta Kappa Gamma
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Beta Kappa Gamma, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. —C.Fred (talk) 22:03, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Block
[edit]- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Diannaa (talk) 22:08, 24 October 2015 (UTC)Alirahim3210 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • autoblocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))

- The deletion rationale at the AfD also included that the article did not cite reliable, secondary sources. Since no new sources were added, that's why I deleted the article.
- Also, where did you attempt to change your username? I don't see any request. —C.Fred (talk) 22:23, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Fred, I went through Wikipedia to change it because I was notified that my username too closely represented an organization. I believe I requested my username to be changed to alirahim3120. Moreover, there is a unblock request which can be found directly above your message requesting my change. As for the page, what other sources would you like me to cite which would validate or warrant the legitimacy of this page. I cited our national website as well as other wikipedia pages which cited the existence of Beta Kappa Gamma. The initial reasons of not having any national affiliation, not present in more than a handful of chapters, and no source have also been addressed through the page as well.
- I don't see where the request was made before you were blocked; I do see where you made the unblock request after you were blocked.
- Again, the AfD said the problem was an absence of secondary sources. The national website for BKG is a primary source, not secondary. —C.Fred (talk) 22:29, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
- Fred, thank you for your prompt response and diligent efforts to work with me to resolve this issue. Can we consider the reinstatement of this page if we supply secondary sources that corroborate our existence within the the group of Fraternities and Sororities in the United States. Moreover, if so, how would you like me to supply these source? The page I created was deleted, but I can supply some links that prove our existence alongside a brief description.
- Fred, I can supply more sources. I would just like some guidance in what needs to be supplied. Moreover, if you could please provide some insight in what I am required to do to unblock my account. In regards to the initial reason in why this page was taken down, I will do my best to work with you to add any missing elements. Additionally, any steps that you can outline in how we can reinstate this page after it has just been deleted would also be appreciated.
- Fred or any other site administrators, please advise if there are any steps I can take to reinstate my account. I have requested another username, alirahim3120, rather than the one I initially selected. The new user name is one without any association other than my name. Moreover, I will abide by any other policies advised by an administrator which will hopefully let my account be reinstated. Thanks and hope to hear from somebody soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BETAKAPPAGAMMA (talk • contribs) 22:47, October 24, 2015 (UTC)
Unblocked
[edit]Okay, I've unblocked you as you've been renamed. As for the article, my suggestion is to start working on it in your userspace as a draft. To make that easier, I've moved what you had created previously here: User:Alirahim3210/Beta Kappa Gamma.
We have a guideline on identifying reliable sources; in summary, we're looking for significant mentions of BKΓ in independent publications like newspapers, magazines, and websites with some amount of editorial control. Include these in the article the same way you included the current references. The purpose of this is less about proving the fraternity exists than about proving it is notable to be the subject of an encyclopedia article. See the notability guideline for organizations. — Earwig talk 01:39, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
@C.Fred: So you know, this user requested a rename through Special:GlobalRenameRequest (I think). As I understand, these requests are not visible to us locally, and they can be made independently of any local blocks. I had a global renamer ask for someone review the block before carrying out the request. — Earwig talk 01:54, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
