Image tagging for Image:Rollyairguitar.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Rollyairguitar.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image use policy
[edit]Hi BLT420. I've seen you upload the same image of Rolly with a ton of different licenses now, and under different names. I understand that you believe this is the only available picture of this person, and that it will be impossible to replace with a free license one. In that case, {{promophoto}} is probably the best license, but you do have to acknowledge where you found it and you have to write a 'fair use rationale'. It's all described in the template. The Marty Friedman image might be yours, but it looks like a professional picture (so if you took it, take that as a compliment!). It also has a small border that indicates that it was taken from a website somewhere. If the image is indeed yours, you can re-upload it, but preferably without a border. State that it's yours, and where and when you took it, as specific as possible, so people are more likely to believe you. It also helps if you can upload the image with metadata (when you've downloaded it from your camera, it contains some information about the date, the camera type, etc. that automatically is inserted at the bottom of the image description page. It's possibly frustrating for you to jump through so many hoops if the image is indeed yours, but we really need to make sure we get the right license for every image. --JoanneB 13:51, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Image:Rollyairguitar.jpg
[edit]Hi, yesterday I left you (on your other account) a message about this image being a non-free image which could be replaced by a free image. After which you stated it could be deleted, which I did. When I saw it being recreated I did the same. I won't delete the image anymore but I will put a template on it which states that this image could be replaced by a free content image. Since Rolly Teranishi is a living person, the picture could be replaced IMO by a free picture. See also Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. Please add {{Replaceable fair use disputed | Your reason why a free replacement is not available}} on the image. Then the closing admin will decide if the image can be kept or not. Since I already deleted the image once and to avoid a conflict of interest, I won't be the deciding admin. Hope this helps, Garion96 (talk) 18:56, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Basically it means that wikipedia is a free content encyclopedia. Everything, including images, can be modified, sold, made fun of whatever. That is one of the basics of wikipedia. Fair use or non-free images are an exception to that. Since they are not released under a free license, we can't modify, sell whatever to those images. That's why we really want to limit fair use images. Only fair use images (this is more my opinion) which are truly irreplacable should be on wikipedia. Like this iconic image Image:WW2 Iwo Jima flag raising.jpg which can't be replaced by a free content image. The image Image:Rollyairguitar.jpg you uploaded could be replaced by a free content image. Someone could take a photo of him at a concert, someone could ask his managent agency for a free content image, someone could meet him and ask if he can take his picture. So the image is not irreplecable which is why, not by me, the image probably will be deleted. Hope this explains it, if not, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. The Adopt-a-User program
[edit]Hi, I understand you are a little confused about Wikipedia policies. Maybe it would do you good if you get Wiki-adopted by a more experienced user who will teach you the ropes. Here is a list of Wikipedians seeking to adopt new / inexperienced users. If you have doubts, ask around. But more importantly, try to read any Wikipedia policy page you come across. Good luck! :) - TwoOars (T | C) 09:41, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Um, no problem at all, but I think you are being too sensitive. All those people above are much more experienced than you and me; all they did was point out what was wrong with the things you did. But it probably comes out as a little curt because of the inherent drawbacks in the medium. Do not take criticism so personally. You get a lot of shit on wikipedia. Keep Cool. :) - TwoOars (T | C) 09:56, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello
[edit]i was wondering if you could adopt me? i have been getting alot of complaints and i need to learn the ropes. i also need someone who can help constantly, so if you cannot, or just dont want to, please let me know asap so i may find another. thank you. BLT420 09:57, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I can adopt you. Usually I'm on Wikipedia every day, so I'll normally reply to any questions you may have quickly :).
- Do you have any questions at the moment?
- Cheers- CattleGirl talk | sign! 10:08, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- yes, its kinda a question, im really just wondering how it works, since i dont understand the wiki pages on it. i upload an image that i dont know what type of copyright to it. everybody keeps complaining, and i didnt think it would be a big thing [1]. im really wondering how i can resolve this without any disputes. i have the rights to post it, just not sure how to. also, thatnks for adopting me! BLT420 10:23, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome :)
- Images isn't really my strong point, but I can try to help you...
- You've already started resolvign it without disputes, you've been asking people for help, which is great.
- To determine the right copyright...
- Where did you get the image from? Was it published on a website, did you take it yourself, and if so, can you provide evidence that you own the photo copyright?
- I know all of this may seem daunting at first- image copyrights tend to be complex, and we've got pretty strict rules on the copyrights allowed on here. Hang in there :), no one's trying to pick a fight or anything- just trying to help you find the right licensing.
- I hope that helped you for now, and I look forward to your reply so we can check out this image licensing :)

Talk pages
[edit]Hi BLT, regarding this edit: [2]. This is not a good idea: never remove templates like those from talk pages: the biography templates make it easier to keep track of biographies. Also, when you write a comment like that, on the bottom of a talk page for instance, try to be more specific: what warning is bogus, according to you, and why? --JoanneB 11:03, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Duplicate images uploaded
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Slamtvlogo.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Header stv rollover.jpg. The copy called Image:Header stv rollover.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 08:00, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit]This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bloodymania.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. SlamTV! Episodes
[edit]A Proposed Deletion template has been added to the article SlamTV! Episodes, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Friedmanloudspeaker.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Friedmanloudspeaker.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:14, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
An editor has nominated SlamTV!, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SlamTV! and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 15:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
