Speedy deletion nomination of Hmdw architects
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hmdw architects requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — Pewfly (talk) 14:44, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
HMDW Architects
[edit]Hello Mr. Basil Jradeh,
First of all thank you in taking time to contact me. I'll try to explain why the images were deleted. I assume that they were taken by you for your company, HMDW Architects, while serving as their photographer. This means that your company payed for you to take the photographs. So ultimately, the company has the copyright privileges. Unless your company has explicitly stated anywhere that the photographs are available under a suitable license, Wikipedia (or Commons) cannot accept it. The best way to get them into Wikipedia would be to explicitly state on the website of your company that they are available under a creative commons license (I suggest this one), and that you, Basil Jradeh is the photographer. Remember that the license should allow non-restricted usage of the photographs (including commercial). You should also link the license agreement to the photo when you upload it. This would solve all problems related to photographs. And if putting up a copyright notice on the website is difficult, you could email Wikimedia saying that they are available under a free license (see OTRS for more details). Wikipedia is always in need of good photographs and photographers.
Now coming to the article. The article is nearly fit enough to be included. First off, Wikipedia follows a strict policy (WP:CORP) when it comes to articles about corporations and businesses. Your company seems to focus on renovations of old and historic buildings. I see that your company has done renovations on the Phoenix Cinema and some other churches which are notable. So please include references (other than company websites) which support these. And take out sentences like "The Directors are AABC registered" which seems promotional. In short, cleanup the article removing all kinds of promotional material, and use reliable, secondary sources (news articles would be great). One thing that you should note is that these secondary sources should cover your company sufficiently. They shouldn't be just brief announcements (for example, this reference you used does not carry any weight). Wikipedia has a very clear policy regarding this as well (WP:CORPDEPTH).
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any doubt. If you are not satisfied with my help alone, you could edit this page and place {{helpme}} anywhere, and somebody will turn up to help you out. Cheers! — Pewfly (talk) 17:55, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
Hello Pewfly,
Many thanks for your reply, its really great to have such in-depth help, as a new user.
I have emailed wiki permissions using their copyright template, from my company's email account as suggested by another wiki moderator, hopefully I did this correctly, so the images will be cleared for use soon, and I will be able to put them back in the gallery.
I disagree with your comment that 'AABC registered' is inappropriate - this is a qualification, rather than an award or promotion of any kind, and I think it is important in identifying what work our firm is based in. Would you still want it deleted, or perhaps moved into external links?
I understand your complaint that the sources need to have more in-depth relevance, however the policy does say: 'If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources should be cited to establish notability.' This morning I have tried to add a lot more backup information - I hope its looking like a more reasonable article now: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Basil_Jradeh
- Although the article has some minor issues regarding formatting, I think it is fine enough to be included. Any other problems will be cleared by other editors. And as for the sentence I mentioned, I still maintain that it looks slightly promotional. You don't have to remove it though, but don't be disheartened if some reviewing editor removes it. And please don't stop your contributions to Wikipedia, we always need good editors! Cheers! — Pewfly (talk) 18:02, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
