- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 02:42, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
Standard notice for editors editing in this topic area
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

- Note that this is a routine notice and I have given myself one. Doug Weller talk 08:33, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- No worries. Frankly I have no interest in getting in any of the edit wars or like.
- The issues are way too complicated and the bitterness here is a big turn-off. Bbc2222 (talk) 15:13, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
Whose sock?
[edit]Whose sock are you, please? Bishonen | tålk 08:51, 16 March 2022 (UTC).
- Sorry, I don't get the question. Bbc2222 (talk) 15:11, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't realise it was meant to be a secret. You signed correctly in your very first edit, you indent with colons, you ping editors. I don't believe you're new. Is your main account blocked? Bishonen | tålk 16:01, 16 March 2022 (UTC).
- Even a savvy 15 year old would do the same thing if he/she pays attention. Though I am much older and like to deeply analyze issues.
- I read wikipedia a lot and saw something of my interest and opened my account. Is there a way for me to convince you? Does Wiki have DM where you can ask me specific questions? Though the question is what will you give me in return? :) Bbc2222 (talk) 16:20, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- Shrug. I have nothing for you. Compare also my comment on TrangaBellam's talkpage.[1] Bishonen | tålk 17:48, 16 March 2022 (UTC).
- @Bishonen For reasons of transparency, could you please clarify who all are Uninvolved Administrators for pages related to Ind, Pak & Afg. Would that be you and @Doug Weller? Are there other persons besides that?
- I am trying to understand the hierarchy here. And for same reasons, who would be the entities above you? Bbc2222 (talk) 23:47, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- Jumping in here since I saw this on Huggle:
- "Any uninvolved administrator" just means any administrator not involved with any edit warring or the like in the discretionary sanction topic area (since they're still people, admins edit warring can happen). There isn't much to it.
- Also, Bureaucrats don't really handle admin conduct that much, if I recall correctly. They just handle adding and removing admin and other sensitive roles, in addition to the things an admin can do. Kirbanzo (talk - contribs) 23:54, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply.
- I am bit surprised by somewhat unprofessional tone/conduct here. (if people are not being paid, so maybe I am expecting too much from them?)
- And that also brings into question how are 'main' editors of any topic decided? And what process exists to identify any biases?
- If the admins themselves are not expert in the area, how can they spot any such conduct? Bbc2222 (talk) 00:03, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
