[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! SummerPhDv2.0 15:12, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Bolivia
[edit]Hi, I noticed you changed the demographic data on the page for Bolivia. Whie it is adequately sourced, is there a reason you used 2009 data rather than the more recent 2018 data? We try to use the most recent data so removing the 2 year old one and adding an 11 year old seemed quite strange. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 17:11, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- Because the source given was from the CIA World Factbook and when I clicked on the link it said the year for that was 2009. BigBoiMfLukester (talk) 00:07, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. In that case thank you for correcting the information. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 02:14, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
At Englewood, Chicago you added that the total population in 2018 was 23,792. You supported this with this source. Where in that source does it say this? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:53, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
On page 3 of that source CMAP BigBoiMfLukester (talk) 17:59, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- It says the total population is 23,792, and the source it sites for that number is: "2000 and 2010 Census, 2014-2018 American Community Survey five-year estimates". So, if your source is citing another source, and the other source says these are estimates, how can 23,792 be the "total population" (there wasn't even a census in 2018)? Do you think maybe this is an "estimated population"? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:44, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
It is the estimated population but I don’t see this being an issue putting in 2018 data since all the other Chicago community area pages’ use 2018 estimated data. Also, the edit I made for West Englewood is based of CMAP data for that community area. BigBoiMfLukester (talk) 20:53, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- I can definitely see all your edits were in good faith, and I can't blame you for updating a source that was already there. A consensus of editors on Wikipedia have agreed that The US Census should be the primary source of demographic data, and unfortunately at Englewood, Chicago, an editor removed the census data here. The new source uses census data, but mislabels it, confusing population size with estimated size. It may have been this same editor that messed up all these Chicago articles a few years ago. I'd just ask you not to update the demographics of city articles with non-census data. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:36, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Thanks! Rsk6400 (talk) 17:23, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
