June 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Binksternet. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Johnny Marr, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Blocked for 24 hours - adding completely unsourced content to biographical articles[edit]

Billy - I am one of Wikipedia's volunteer administrators, and I have applied a 24 hour editing block to your account. You keep repeatedly adding information to band and biographical articles that doesn't seem to have any other sources, not that you've cited and referenced, nor anything else I can find looking around.
Wikipedia has policies requiring that information going on articles about real living people be cited, so a news story, book, magazine article, etc. are required. Additionally, information that's not generally well known in any article should be cited as well. This is an encyclopedia, and we need to show our work and sources.
People who keep adding known to be false material to Wikipedia are permanently blocked. That's not ok.
I don't know for a fact that what you added is false, but it appears so. I would like you to explain where you're getting it from and provide the reference so that anyone can review the source. Your block is going to auto expire in 24 hours, but if you keep at it and won't provide citations, I or someone else will block you permanently.
If you have a citation, you can post it here. You don't need to even format it nicely, if you can tell us what it is so people can verify it's real, we can help with getting it formatted correctly to add to the articles. If you can do that, any administrator can unblock you earlier than 24 hours.
I'm adding a standard block template below with some standard instructions. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 05:45, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for violations of Wikipedia's biographies of living persons policy. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
