If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on BioBuzz, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your username[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created BioBuzz, and I noticed that your username, "BioBuzzMaryland", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. KGirlTrucker81 talk what I'm been doing 14:07, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

July 2016[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Widr (talk) 14:26, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to break any rules. I wanted to set up an article about a non-profit I work with.

Decline reason:

This would be inappropriate. See WP:COI and WP:PROMO. Yamla (talk) 14:41, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for being lost here. But how do countless companies have pages? Who set up the one for Microsoft? It's there.

You can see the list of contributors at [1]. In general, people who work for Microsoft shouldn't be editing that page directly, though they could suggest changes on the article's talk page. Once again, I direct you to WP:COI and WP:PROMO. --Yamla (talk) 15:02, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thank you. So, somebody else needs to set up a page about BioBuzz if there is going to be one. Correct? Can I just change my user name to EckAE, unblock me, and I won't try to recreate this page?

I want to be very clear, it has to be someone who has no conflict of interest. You can't, for example, just solicit a volunteer to create the page on your behalf. I'll lift your block right away and provide a pointer to where to request a name change. Thanks for understanding! --Yamla (talk) 15:20, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Yamla (talk) 15:22, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
