Proposed deletion of Shannon torrez

[edit]

The article Shannon torrez has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:BLP1E

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on File:Storrez.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. • Gene93k (talk) 00:20, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Torrezsh.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Torrezsh.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Non-free rationale for File:Torrezsh.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Torrezsh.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hello. I need to ask you something about this article. An honest response will benefit all involved (including you).

Did you invent this as a hoax/joke? Before you answer, please see the related Reddit discussion. Also note that I've viewed your deleted contributions, so I'm aware that you uploaded this image file and presented it as a photograph taken in Stennisville.

If it is a hoax/joke, coming clean now will minimize the disruption caused (because we can simply delete the article instead of wasting time on a formal AfD discussion).

If you sincerely believe that the claims are true, I hope that you can address the serious issues that have been raised.

Thanks in advance. —David Levy 07:29, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, This is BnPerdue16, I don't know how to leave a message so I'm hoping this will work. Anyway, Stennisville is NOT a hoax. It is real. It is where Napoleon used to be before they located the settlers off the land in the 1960's for the building of Stennis Space Center. Several homeless people continue to dwell there. It is located back in a thicket next to the space center. A barbed wire fence boarders it on one side and and the highway to Pearlington borders it on the other side. The reason I know about it is because my grandfather lived there for many years, and died there. I've seen it before. The workers at the space center are unaware of it, because the highway department are the ones who allow the homeless to stay there. there is a page for Napoleon at this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon,_Mississippi . It is no longer referred to as Napoleon though, it is now called Stennisville. I suggest that you delete the page for Napoleon and replace it with the page that I created. Thank you so much for contacting me, and I hope we can get this all cleared up quickly :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by BnPerdue16 (talkcontribs) 17:46, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Material included in the encyclopedia must be verifiable by reliable sources. Original research (such as your personal account of what you've seen and heard) is not valid for this purpose.
What reliable sources corroborate your "Stennisville" claims? You cited a NASA publication in which it isn't mentioned (and you stated above that "the workers at the space center are unaware of it"). All of this seems highly improbable and appears to be contradicted by the available evidence. You've provided specific data. What is its source?
You've yet to explain why you uploaded this image file and presented it as a photograph taken in Stennisville, which it clearly isn't. Likewise, I just deleted File:Columbiascrapyards.jpg, which you lifted from here and attempted to pass off as your own creation.
Additionally, having examined many of your contributions, I encountered multiple instances in which you replaced verifiable location information, sometimes with obvious falsehoods. It's difficult to view this as anything other than vandalism.
So I hope that you can understand why your credibility seems highly suspect. —David Levy 07:33, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Again; dont know how to send a message. There is a page listed as "Napoleon, Mississippi". Napoleon IS Stennisville, they are the EXACT SAME PLACE. My suggestion, delete one page, keep the other, preferably Stennisville because that is what the community is known as nowadays. In the end its your call. Email me at [redacted] if you need to reach me again, as this 'writing through Wikipedia' is a little to complicated for me. I want to add that I am a human being, just like you, and mean no harm by any of this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BnPerdue16 (talkcontribs) 06:09, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't post your email address. That information should be kept private. I suggest that you also stop mentioning your name and location.
In this circumstance, it's more appropriate to conduct the discussion here, on your talk page. (You needn't visit mine.) You've posted messages successfully. Just be sure to place four tildes (~~~~) at the end. (This will add your signature.)
Per your above consent, I'll delete the Stennisville, Mississippi article. I'm sorry if this upsets you, but we must rely on information published by reliable sources. Napoleon, Mississippi is a place whose current existence by that name is documented, with only your word contradicting this. Wikipedia is not for things made up one day, and we have absolutely no credible evidence demonstrating that "Stennisville, Mississippi" is anything but.
Please also understand that "I am a human being" is not an excuse for vandalism. Everyone makes mistakes, but you've yet to explain why you've continually inserted claims that you clearly knew were false, along with images that you stole and passed off as your own (thereby committing copyright infringement). If this behavior continues, you may be blocked from editing. —David Levy 07:11, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
