Your userpage[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. Just wanted to let you know that the stuff on your userpage appears to be an advertisement, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. If you are trying to create an article, that is not the place to do it. that place would be here: User:BoondockBrothers/sandbox.

This page here is for communication between you and other editors. the page User:BoondockBrothers is for you to put up stuff that tells people about what you like in relation to Wikipedia and a little bit about yourself. See WP:UP.

Also, usernames that imply you are editing for a group of people or that more than one person may be using the account, like your username, are against the rules here. See Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple for details on how to change your name.

Lastly, if that is an article draft on your userpage, if you were to try to move that to the actual encyclopedia, it would be speedy deleted. The Standard for what it takes to get an article in about a band is found at WP:BAND. I will leave you some info on getting started around here and you are welcome to contact me at my talk page if you need any help. Gtwfan52 (talk) 09:39, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi...trying to get your attention![edit]

You keep adding more promotional content to your userpage. If you don't stop, I am going to be forced to put your userpage up for deletion. Wikipedia is the encyclopedia anyone can edit, but that doesn't mean you can put whatever you want in it. Gtwfan52 (talk) 10:06, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:BoondockBrothers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Gtwfan52 (talk) 10:15, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good. Now I know you are listening. Although you are welcome to keep working on the article about your band, it needs help. All Wikipedia does is report on what other reliable sources are saying about any given subjects. You are not allowed to write about any subject just from your personal knowledge. It all has to be attributable to some other piece of writing somewhere. So, what I am saying is please be sure to read WP:BAND before you invest any more time into this. Without a released record, there is no chance in hell that your band will pass the requirements of the notability standards, which is the standard for inclusion here in the encyclopedia. Wikipedia is NOT the place to try to promote your band, because we only print things that can be attributed to another reliable source. Get some newspaper coverage, get your record released, then maybe (Still doubtful, maybe) your band will make the requirements for inclusion. Gtwfan52 (talk) 10:26, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to let someone else review your article so you don't get the idea that I am picking on you, but to put it for review now is way premature. You have no references. Everything that is in your reference list is what is called self-sourcing, in other words, related in some way to the subject of the article. YouTube is not a reliable source. See WP:RS. Wikipedia only publishes what others are writing about. If you have no newspaper or magazine articles about your band, it isn't notable enough for a Wikipedia article. It appears that your band has some potential, but I am sure you realize that playing in bars in San Diego is a looooooong way from the Grammys. Read WP:BAND, WP:GNG (which is the basic standard for inclusion in Wikipedia) and the above mentioned WP:RS. Then honestly think about whether or not you are wasting your time with this. Wikipedia is not the place to start trying to promote your band, and you are a long way away from an article from what you have and what I have seen on the internet. There is a huge backlog at AfC, so your article probably won't get reviewed for at least a week. Please take this for what it is, advice. I am not your enemy. I am just trying to get you to see what you are working with. Good Luck. I wish you all the success in the world. I have been around musicians all my life and I know it is a very difficult row to hoe. I hope you find your way down that long road. If you have any questions, you are welcome to message me on my talk page. Gtwfan52 (talk) 17:48, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
