Hi Dianna!

Thank you for your feedback. I am still trying to figure out how to edit everything but appreciate any help. I am updating this wikipedia for Kathy Freston as I work for her directly and because she is anticipating a new book release, I want to make the page look as full as possible. I hope I am doing everything alright. I am citing and referencing as best as possible

Thanks! BossVegan (talk) 00:09, 18 January 2021 (UTC)BossVegan[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, BossVegan. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Kathy Freston, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MB 01:53, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am not being paid and no one has asked me to do these edits. I simply have added factual information regarding Kathy Freston's career with credible links to cite and reference. How and where do I suggest necessary edits? There is a ton of information missing on the page and simply search on the web would give you all the information I provided with citing and references. Please let me know where I can suggest contributions for this page then.

You said very clearly on this page that "I am updating this wikipedia for Kathy Freston as I work for her directly and because she is anticipating a new book release, I want to make the page look as full as possible". That certainly implies that she is paying you as "you work for her directly". Even if you are not being paid, you still have a clear Conflict of Interest. We do not care about the article looking "as full as possible". Only non-promotional encyclopedic information can be added to the article that is taken from independent sources who have written about Kathy Freston. You can make edit requests on the article talk page by following the instructions linked above. However, nothing will be added unless there are references to published reliable sources. Correct. I was unaware that adding factual information to a page that needs to be updated was not allowed because I simply know the person. I understand the conflict of interest now. She did not ask me to do this. I simply noticed that her wikipedia page was missing extensive accolades and accomplishments so I added actual information that is provided from articles written about her and cited them. Nothing was made up or set to promote her, I just simply updated exact information that was properly cited and referenced from independent sources that I have nothing to do with that were written about Kathy Freston. Everything I contributed had merit and credible references and I linked every single one of them. Conflict of Interest or not. I feel this information was taken down without actually looking into the matter out of spite instead of explaining and perhaps suggesting nicely the proper way to update this real neutral information.
