[edit]No idea myself, reverted it to your last edit which seemed to be a reasonably safe anchor point. Article will still need a fair bit of work to get it right. If the random article-space vandalism returns, let me know - we always have the option of semi-protecting it. Orderinchaos 09:08, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- No worries. :) And agreed. Orderinchaos 10:28, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Awards categories - non fiction and biography
[edit]Many thanks for adding these. I did try and add new categories and someone removed them. The categories work much better than the "See Also" groupings and are much more easy to manage records. I will go start to collect and add things to these. Kind regards Stellar 12:01, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, but recognition is unnecessary
[edit]Wikipedia has now become a habit, in fact I spend too much of my free time there. It is one of those places where there is always something useful to do and the virtual environment (the wallpaper) is interesting and unusual. Stellar 02:47, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Cats
[edit]Be very careful my friend when you make new cats - the cat police are stringent in their cries about underpop'd and the underpop'alatable varieties - better to keep stuff in larger cats before making smaller one plop varieties, savvy? cheers SatuSuro 05:07, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Pre-emptive/preventive defence if they came for the literary award cats in the middle of the night - possibly no fur trail or paw marks - they need more than one art to go in to keep it going - unless it can be proved to be part of a cat tree - best to gmail/off wiki if you want the full story - cheers SatuSuro 13:05, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- Would you please bring it to me directly - and I will gladly respond. And assume good faith, and respond to clearup the issue. Hope you can take that literally SatuSuro 03:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Not sure what the problem User:SatuSuro has with me,
- I have none at all and am very impressed by your hard work on the Australian and literature projects. I think you have misinterpreted me and my sloppy messages.
but him getting on my back and critizing my work on Wikipedia isn't making me very happy about contributing here anymore. His remarks and words on my talk page i dont find amusing at all and this has now happened a few times.
- I am sorry if my style bothers you - I can easily leave it to others to deal with anything - I have no problem there - I can easily stay away from your edits if that makes you feel better.
Also i dont wish to correspond with him via email, as he is always insisting, as i dont remember anything being written about this is how editors are to correspond with each other, as i prefer to keep my email out of Wikipedia.
- Thats fine - I can understand you wanting to keep things separate - quite a few editors chose to do so - and I have no problem with that
His lastest gripe is with me making 2 Categories, that User:Meredyth requested as there was no awards categories for non fiction.
- The gripe is not a gripe but a warning - the major part of my contributons in the last year has been tagging categories. All I was trying to do - on wiki - not off - is alert to the fact that many one article categories need watching - I did not mean to be disparaging or negative about it at all either about Boylos or anyone elses contributions - and as there are some issues I am not prepared to share 'on wiki' about the whole category thing - I had felt frustrated that I was not able to share that off wiki - these issues reflect on a part of a process within the wikipedia structure where I believe on wiki discussions do not help anyone.
Yet i find that he approves of for example, Categories such as 'Category:Mayors of Badung' which only has one article in it. So i find his remarks to me hypercritical and his words disrespectful.
- I have found a large number of one article categories (this morning if you look at my edit history - an empty one found and commented on by longhair) in the australian,(and subsidiary projects) and indonesia project - and am acutely aware of issues that are potentially ones that get aired at Cfd debates. As a result in my sloppy shorthand way of rushed messages - it has been sadly misinterpreted as a personal slight. There was no intention to offend or disparage your hard work at any point, and I am sure I would do anything to have you stay on wikipedia and keep doing your hard work.
I work on Wikipedia for free giving my own time to try and improve it, and i find negative remarks such as his discouraging.
- Better to respond with a HUH? - so I can explain at least what you seemed to have misinterpreted - I am open to that any time over anything. On wiki or off.
Anyway, if he has a problem with my work, he should let you know, since you Adopted to help me with Wikepedia, as i am not interested in listening to his discouraging remarks or his 'Whatever's and 'Savvy's as I dont find them helpful at all. Regards Boylo 03:18, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well I would glady avoid making sloppy comments about the problem of categories - and strongly suggest rather than attempts at my cryptic misunderstood messages that you check out Cfd debates for a while and see how tough it can get over there - and why I was alerting to the single and empty categories issue - I have probably a hundred that I have to keep worrying about - not just 2. cheers SatuSuro 03:43, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
He beat me to the punch... but as far as I can see, he's not being negative above, I think it's just a case of writing very quickly and leaving out key joiner words... I guess it's hard for me to see it as written (although I can if I read it aloud) as I've known Satu online for over a year so my mind tends to process it into what it should be (he is aiming to be helpful), but it came across to me as being addressed to a fellow traveller aware of some of the dangers on the road ahead. Re email - it's no secret that this place is full of politics and one doesn't know who is watching talk pages or contribs, so when discussing matters which are now resolved history with trusted parties, it's usually better to go to email to avoid aggravating random readers (My Wiki-connected email is usually busier than my talk page, but that's probably true for most admins and a lot of long-term editors). Note that many people choose to create a "throwaway" email address for Wikipedia purposes, such as at Yahoo or at fastmail.com.au to name an Australian free email provider. See also the very first parts of User talk:Zivko85 where a similar process occurred. Orderinchaos 04:34, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have tried to speak to him before about his remarks and get them dismissed by his ' Whatever ! ' so dont find it worthwhile when i get a reply like that. I have never had any problems with any other Editor's here except for him. So if he wishes a third party friend of his to get involved he can forget it, i dont need someone else to defend him, when i can see the manner in his remarks myself. This has made up my mind for me to leave Wikipedia permadently. Thanks for your help, but Wikipedia isnt for me if its like this. Boylo 11:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you genuinely wish to, then all you have to do is ask an administrator to delete your user and user talk pages per your right to vanish, but if it were me I'd leave it for a few days and come back to it and see how you feel - the Wiki is a lot bigger than a few individuals (around 68,000 active contributors by some counts) and you can easily avoid someone you don't want to have to deal with, especially if you and they are working in separate areas. Note that if your pages are deleted, you can always at some point in the future ask an administrator to restore them - it's literally a click of a button to do. If you actually want to have the stuff deleted, let me know. Orderinchaos 12:55, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Why thankyou
[edit]Thanks, Boylo, for the Barnstar. I'm having good fun researching matters dear to my heart! Did I notice your tagging Oprah books with a category the other day. Good on you too. It's nice seeing those lists fill up and become more comprehensive isn't it? Cheers Sterry2607 06:56, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Covers
[edit]I assume this is for a modern copyrighted novel. If so then you will need to get some details about the "source" ie. how the image was generated and then you will need to add a "fair use rationale" to the entry. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:47, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- You might like to make use of the template {{ subst:Book rationale | Article name goes here | website goes here | person or company owning the intellectual property goes here }} to help out with adding such a rationale. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:52, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- As a modern novel the copyright will almost certain lie with the publisher. The main thing that the actual creation of the scan is credited and the "fair use rationale" will be used as justification for using the image as part of an article "about" said novel. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 11:04, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
