July 2021[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:06, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I am sorry for this mistake as the username I have used (a few years ago) is my default across all online spaces and it didn't initially occur to me to choose a different username for Wikipedia. I have not and do not intend to receive compensation for any of my contributions. I simply wanted to extend the article, add credible sources, and in fact remove the links to self promotions and those that Wikipedia itself highlighted as articles that did not fit its criteria for tone and independently verified facts. I entirely understand the reason for this block due to my username which I have corrected. If unblocked I intend to make further contributions to articles predominantly related to online music, which is an area I specialise in.

Decline reason:

I have determined you are trying to mislead us. You do indeed count as a paid editor as per WP:PAID, specifically around Virtual piano and Michael Scott (author). These are directly listed as clients of CMAGICS on the CMAGICS website. These are literally the only two articles you have edited. As you have tried to mislead us, you have essentially destroyed any possibility of us trusting your word again. Yamla (talk) 10:31, 14 July 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Request reason:

Yes, I have insight into both of these projects mentioned above but no payment or compensation is received for this contribution whatsoever. Moreover, the page was packed with self promotion and remains a biased opinion which I had corrected. Crutially, please highlight which part of my edits to the article was not factual. I am happy to provide whatever proof is requested but I would like to contribute. I have also referred to other Wikipedia articles that describes a product and states the name of the company it was invented by. Is that a promotion of the company that invented the project and should it be allowed on Wikipedia? My apologies I am still new to Wikipedia but it's offensive for an administrator to quickly reach a conclusion of 'you are trying to mislead us' and you've 'destroyed any possibility for us trsuting your word again'. I request and appeal for careful consideration of the above and a suggestion for how I can propose changes and extend articles relating to online music.

Decline reason:

By "insight" do you mean a conflict of interest - see WP:COI. PhilKnight (talk) 14:30, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Yes, I realise this now and have submitted a more detailed appeal via the online form and hope you will review. Many thanks.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline since you have indicated you are appealing via UTRS so there's no need right now to have this open. — Daniel Case (talk) 19:08, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
