For some time I'll be able to do minor edits sometimes, or answer messages, not much more. Don't know exactly for how long. Not exactly a wikibreak, but I have to limit the participation for a while.

Neutrality Project[edit]

Hi, I'm trying to ensure that the Neutrality Project has not become inactive. If you would still like to participate in it, please re-add your name to the Review Team list. Thanks, Jame§ugrono 07:29, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Looks like the Neutrality Project is dying. Is it because we've done such a good job ferreting out bias that the project is no longer needed? Or have we simply given up? I think neutral writing is important, and I don't think it's impossible. Look at what I did with the Chile coup of 1973, for example. It really is possible to step back from a dispute and describe what each side is saying - even when you (the writer) are convinced one side is completely true.
It is very useful for readers to understand why other people disagree with the mainstream. Otherwise, we run the risk of allowing whoever shouts the loudest (or has the biggest voting bloc) to dominate the presentation of a topic. Do we want one-sided presentations in cases where a significant minority have another viewpoint?
If you share my concerns, please help me revive this project. --Uncle Ed (talk) 13:08, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, clearly it's that we're no longer active... When we were creating it, I hoped the idea would catch on quickly - that in a short while, the drive to take an outside look at an article, outline the questions, discuss the solutions, improve the POV representation and focus towards NPOV would be appreciated. That's not what happened. People started seeing this as an attempt by "outsiders" to interfere into their territory, control the points of view. It was tiresome and the influx of new members was small.
Could we revive it? I hope so. Not sure what I can do for it, however. CP/M comm |Wikipedia Neutrality Project| 13:27, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Early submarines.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Early submarines.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 07:29, 10 October 2014 (UTC)

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
